(Alexis' POV)

"No!" I scream, as two of the pack's fighters continue to restrain me. "Let me go!"

"Alexis, please calm down!"

"They have him! They have my mate! Leo!" I scream, knowing only too well that he can't hear me.

"Kent, can't you do something?" Dad asks desperately as I continue to thrash against the two men. They grunt in pain every time my foot comes into contact with their shins.

"I'm afraid not, David. As Alexis is the future Alpha, I have no power over her at all."

Gasps echo around the room at the revelation of my future role in the pack, but I'm too scared for Leo's safety right now to care.

"Let me go!" I scream once more, raising my foot higher and kicking one of the fighters in the knee.

"Alexis," Dad says sternly. He places his hands on either side of my face and looks at me intently. "Listen to me, you need to calm down. We will find Leo, I promise you but you need to calm down first."

I nod my head in defeat and, when the men release me, fall to my knees. I sob softly into my hands for several minutes, before starting to compose myself.

I am future Alpha of this pack; I need to be strong for my pack. I need to be strong for Leo.

Taking a deep breath, I quickly dry my tears before standing to face the room full of people.

"Are you okay?" Alpha Kent asks.

I nod my head, not trusting my voice just yet.

A tugging on my sleeve grabs my attention, and I look down into the big blue eyes of the eight-year-old boy I helped earlier.

"Don't cry," he tells me. "You can be brave like Superman too!"

I open my mouth to reply, but nothing comes out. I smile down at the young boy and he beams back up at me.

"Come on, Will," his mother says. "I think it's time to go home. Alexis needs to find her mate."

She takes her son's hand and leads him back towards his siblings.

"Thank you, once again, Alexis. And if there's anything, I mean anything, I can do to help you find your mate, please, let me know."

"I-" I clear my throat. "I will, thank you, Tom."

The second the young family leave the room, I turn to Alpha Kent.

"I need to find him, now."

"We need a plan."

"Bu-"

"We can't go in there all guns blazing, we need a plan."

"We need to go and get him now, we don't know what they're doing to him! They could be torturing him!"

"They're not," Alpha Kent states.

"How do you know that?" Dad asks in an accusing tone.

Alpha Kent glares at Dad, clearly not liking his best friend's tone, before turning to the two men who were previously holding me back. "Get Tom back in here and get me Richard, Jason and Derek, now."

The men nod at their Alpha before turning on their heels to do his bidding.

"To answer your question, David, I know that Alexis' mate isn't in any pain at all, for the simple reason that Alexis isn't in pain."

"But how? We're not mated, or marked for that matter."

"I'm well aware of that, Alexis," he says, sitting down on the edge of his desk. "You're an Alpha."
