(Leo's POV)
To say I feel fireworks erupt when our lips touch would be the biggest understatement of the century. I've never felt anything like this before.
The second Alexis' lips brush against mine in the most seductive, yet innocent way ever; I wrap my arms tighter around her waist and pull her even closer to me.
I feel her smile into the kiss before she runs her tongue along my bottom lip, teasing me even more. One hand grips my bicep; the other makes it way to the back of my head where she tugs gently on my hair. I lightly nip her bottom lip causing her to gasp, giving me the perfect opportunity to slip my tongue into her mouth.
Everything about Alexis, her touch, her taste, even her smell, is so intoxicating. She's like a drug to me and I just can't get enough of her. Having her in my arms feels so right, it's as if she belongs there.
Ever since I met her, I haven't even glanced at another woman. None compare to her. She is the epitome of perfection.
Alexis smiles down at me when our lips part and I do my best not to whine like a deprived puppy at the separation.
"That was..." I breath out.
"Amazing!" She finishes.
"Yeah." I reach up and brush a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "I'm not really good at ice-skating," I tell her, with a shy smile.
"I noticed," she giggles.
Heat rushes up my cheeks once more and before I can say anything else, Alexis leans down and presses her lips against mine for a brief kiss.
"Come on," she says, standing up. "I think we should get you off this ice before you end up injuring yourself."
I blush even more as I take her outstretched hand. I try, try being the key word, to stand up again but it seems impossible. I think it'd be easier for me to climb Everest than to slide a couple of meters back to the rink entrance.
After three attempts of standing, I finally manage to make my way off the treacherous ice rink. I almost kiss the floor when my feet touch it, but I refrain from doing so. I'd rather kiss Alexis though, who wouldn't!
"Thanks," I tell her as I pull off my skates.
"It's no problem," she smiles.
"Are you hungry?" As if on queue, her stomach makes its presence known. "I'll take that as a yes."
She laughs lightly along with me before we both make our way out of the rink.
"Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to go for dinner?" I ask.
"I honestly don't mind," she replies. "Where would you recommend?"
I do my best not to panic as I try to think of the perfect restaurant we can go. I've already messed this date up enough; I don't need to make it any worse.
"There's a lovely little Italian restaurant on the other side of town, if you'd like to go there. I've been there a few times and the food is amazing."
"That sounds perfect!" She beams. "I love Italian food!"
"It's about an hours drive away though. Is that okay with you?" I try not to sound too hopeful as I look over at her, anticipating her reaction. I hope she doesn't mind because I'd kill for a meal from Mosconi's right now.
"Yeah, that's fine with me."
"Great!" I say as we reach the jeep.
"How's that little St. Bernard puppy doing?" Alexis asks, just as I pull into the parking lot for Mosconi's.
We've been chatting the entire journey here and Alexis just gets more amazing the more I learn about here. I don't know about her, but I think that we get on pretty great.
To be honest, it's making me hopeful that maybe this could go somewhere more than a first date.
"He's doing great," I tell her. "He's recovering really well. I'm hoping after tomorrow he'll be able to go back home."
"That's brilliant! I'm jealous of his owner; he's so cute!"
"Yeah, he is." Not as cute as you though.
We climb out of the jeep and Alexis slips her hand into mine. She glances around the parking lot before turning to me.
"Is it always this quiet?"
"No," I say, looking around in confusion. I've never seen the place so deserted. "It's usually packed!"
When we reach the door of the restaurant I almost kick myself for not ringing to see if they were opened before driving out here.
We are closed today due to a family emergency. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Shit! Well, Leo, you just blew it!
Now what am I going to do?
"Oh," Alexis sighs. "That's a shame."
"I'm so sorry," I start, feeling so embarrassed. Trust me to screw up my first, and probably only, date with the most perfect woman in existence. "I should have phoned them to make sure they were open."
"Hey," Alexis almost scolds. "It's not your fault. Let's just go to- Where else is there to eat around here?"
"Erm, McDonald's... I think."
"Well, then." She takes my hand in hers once more and pulls me back to the jeep. "Let's go to McDonald's then."
***
"Leo, it's not your fault."
"It is!" I protest.
"How is it your fault that the waiter gave us the wrong food?"
"Because, I obviously ordered the wrong food," I tell her. We're still sitting in my jeep in the front garden after our disaster meal, if you could even call it a meal, in McDonald's.
I ordered the wrong food and when I placed the second order, the food was cold. It was awful! I feel like such an idiot.
"You didn't, Leo. I was standing there beside you."
"Bu-"
Alexis cuts me off by putting her finger to my lips. "No, buts."
I lock the jeep as soon as we both climb out. I walk Alexis towards her jeep, which is parked just outside my living room window.
"Are you sure you don't want to come in for something proper to eat?" I ask.
"I'm positive. I'd best be getting home anyway," she says, indicating towards her vehicle.
"Okay."
"I had a great time, Leo. Thank you." She smiles at me before climbing into the drivers seat. "I'll call you."
"Sure," I reply with a smile.
I watch as she turns on the ignition, waves at me, before turning the jeep around and driving back down the driveway.
"I'll be waiting."
