Chapter 6

"Lucas? Why is he here?" I ask. I am surprised he came back. Nate shakes his head. "I don't know why , Ava. I am trying to figure out." Caroline decides to say something. "I think we all want him dead. He turned me, almost killed you," she pointed to me, "I have no clue why you want him dead," she pointed at Nate, "but we need to find him." We all nod in agreement.

2 years ago, October 31

"Caroline, what's going on?" She is staring at me. "Something isn't right, Ava. My gums are on fire." She is crying. I walk up to her. She held her wrist out. "Lucas bit me. His eyes changed, he had sharp teeth and then," she paused. "He fed me blood Ava, his own blood." She whispered. My eyes widened. "Then he snapped my neck." She was covering her eyes now. "Listen, Caroline." She looked at me. I explained as much as I could. "You are in transition. You need blood to complete it." She is horrified. "What happens if I don't?" She looked at me. "You will die." Her eyes widened in fear, "Caroline it is your choice. You don't have to be a vampire." I held her hand. "Ava, I don't want to die." I nod. "Ok. I will help you." She nods. I take a kitchen knife and slit my wrist. "Take my blood." She looks at my wrist. "I-I can't Ava. What if I can't stop?" She looks at me. "You can. You have to tell yourself you can." She looks at my wrist again. "I can't Ava!" She closes her eyes. "Yes Caroline. I don't want you to die." She shook her head. We were still in our Halloween costumes. "I want to become a vampire Ava, just I don't want to kill you," she pleaded, "not from you, I will not-" I shoved my wrist into her mouth, and she screamed, then started sucking. She gripped my wrist and didn't stop. I pulled my wrist away, and looked at her. Her eyes changed, she had her fangs out. In a second, she was back to normal. "I'm sorry I have to do this Caroline." She looked confused, then I drove the wooden stake into her arms, then legs. "Stay put." I get up as she cries out in pain.

I grab my bow and load it with silver arrows. My brother Jacob is fighting the Alpha right now. I am at the Alpha's heart, when my brother cries out in pain. I look again and there is a steel pipe, protruding through his stomach. "NO!" I yell and start running towards him, when to arms grab me. I don't even look at who I'm fighting, I just have to get to Jacob. Jacob turns to face me, and mouths, "I love you, Ava." Then falls to the ground. Tears are poring for my eyes when my attacker turns me to face him. "Henry," I say, then he hold me still. " This will hurt, my dear," he leans to my shoulder and bites me. I scream in pain. He is draining the blood from my body. I scream and scream and scream. Then he stops, and falls limp against me. Then I collapse. Everything is blurry, but I see a wooden stake through Henry's back. There is a man, who kicks Henry off of me, then kneels to me. "I'm sorry."

And that is all I remember.

Present

"Don't remind me of that night," I say to both of them. They nod. "Ok, he thinks I'm dead. Correct?" Caroline asks me. "I think so." I raise my eyebrow at her questionably. "Since we were dating, if he sees me he might want to take something he forgot to get." She smirks. Both me and Nate look at her weirdly. Her smirk fades into frustration. "He forgot his ring!" She yelled/sighed, she held her hand up to see. The ring was his, and it helps her walk in the daylight. She also has a necklace to help as well. "Well, he will certainly want that back." I say,catching on. "If I can lure him into the park at night, we could vervain him and take him to the old cellar." I suggest. We all nod in agreement. "Alright, come to my place at 6." Then Nate walks back, and we continue to shop.
