I cry immediately and Dylan wraps his arms around me. "It's ok." He says into my hair. "I'm here now." He whispers. I can hear Nate taking steps to us. "Hey who are-" Caroline interrupts, "Nate don't,"
"Come on." Dylan picks me up bridal style and starts walking away. "The blood should pass out of your system in about 2 days, until then, I will stay with you." I've stopped crying by now. I nod. Caroline follows behind us. Dylan looks down at me. "Hold on." He smirks, the one that drives me crazy, and I cling to him. He takes off at Vampire speed and runs to my house with Caroline by our side.
He lays me down on my bed and I try to find sleep but I can't. I can't focus because of him. He is sitting in a chair in the corner of my room. "Why didn't you come back sooner?" I look at him. He looks at me. "I was scared of what you might think." He says softly.
"Hey, can I borrow a pen?" This guy, who I may add is hot, asks me. "Yeah, sure." I smiled and handed him one. I continue to work in class, but glancing back to him every other minute.
"Ava, I don't get to introduce myself." The same boy walks to me at my car, I swear he was across the field a second ago. "Dylan , Dylan Sarkwell." His smile is sweet, inviting, and handsome. I shake his hand, smiling at the same time. "Well, you already know my name." I laugh a little. He smirks, "I know a lot about you." He kisses the top of my hand. What a gentleman. "I'll see you around." I smile, and climb into my car.
A week later, I'm kissing him. I pull away. We are sitting in Dylan's car, outside of school. "Were are you taking me?" Dillon pulls out. "I need to tell you something. In private." He smirks, and it's beautiful. About 30 minutes later, we stop and he takes me into the woods. We walk deep into the woods and a thought occurs in my mind. "You're not bringing me out here to kill me, are you?" He laughs,"No, but I might." That's not creepy at all. He walks in front of me, and stops, so there is a distant between us. "Ava, I have kept this a secret to everyone, so you can't say anything." I nod. "Ok, I'm a vampire." He sighs. I can't help but laugh. Dylan's expression doesn't change. "You're not serious, right?" I say. "Oh I'm serious." His eyes start to change and his fangs become apparent. The next second he has a grip on me by my shoulders, and I feel his breath on my neck. His cold teeth barely scrape the edge of my skin. My breathing rapids as I feel the sharp edge of his fangs on my neck, and I fear for my life. "Please don't hurt me." Dylan looks back up at me, and he is normal again. "I would never hurt you, Ava." He touches my cheek lightly. "You're a- a vampire." I stutter, at loss for words. I start backing up, and then turn around and run. He is in front of me again. Dillon grips me, and looks in my eyes. "Ava! It's ok, I won't hurt you. I will NEVER hurt you." I calm down a bit, and hug him. "I'll protect you. I promise."
"Dylan, after my brother died, I needed you most." I sit up. He moves over to the edge of my bed. "I just, I didn't mean for that to happen. I didn't know Henry would go that far, and to be honest, Once I knew what he was planning, I didn't know what to do." He explains calmly.
"Dylan, I didn't know that, but I'm glad you left actually, you could have been killed." I look down at the bed and pick at the blanket. He touched my hand gently.
"I love you, Ava." It feels so good to hear those words again.
I lean into him and crash my lips against his. He reacts immediately by kissing me back. The rush is back, that I experienced 2 years ago. Dylan makes everything disappear. The pain, the memories, and most of all, the loneliness.
