I decide to go to Caroline's house for a little while, and I tell her what happened. " You just walked off?" She asked surprised. "Yeah I did." She looks worried. "You almost killed the alpha, and you didn't even run?" I nod. " The rest of the pack was too surprised to do anything, so I am ok. "Still," she sighs, "Please be more careful." She grabs my hand. I sigh, " Care, I am fine." I have been doing this for almost 7 years now." I started this when I was 10, and I am almost 17 now. "Ok, fine I over reacted." She smiled. " I feel bad though. He was cute." We laugh and talk about cute boys for the rest of the night.

I wake up the next morning to my phone ringing. I fell asleep at Caroline's house. She groans, "Ava," she pushes me off the bed. " Turn your phone off." I yawn and answer my phone. " Hello?" I rub my eyes. "Where are you?" Oh crap, it is my dad. " I am fine dad, I am at Caroline's." I can hear how mad he is. "Why didn't you tell me where you were going last night?" " Because I didn't want to dad. I am almost 17, I can do just fine on my own." I groan and walk to the bathroom. "Most importantly, why did you hurt the alpha?" How did he find out about that? "How did you know?" He sighed. " Two stakes were missing and Mile Benson showed up at our door with a bloody stake." I sigh. " How could you be stupid to do that, Ava? You could have been killed." I am a little frustrated with him now. " Dad, he was the one who killed Jacob. That is why I went there. I would have killed him, but I figured the pack would be with him." He is mad, I can tell by his tone. " You just started a war, and I will step in if you don't figure out how to fix things between you and the pack. You have dug your self a hole, Ava, a deep one." Then he hung up. I look at Caroline, who has gotten dressed and done her hair. " I heard the whole thing."

I just fix my hair and go in what I am wearing to school. Me and Caroline walk in, and I know they are staring at me. They are standing by their lockers. The five of them staring into my soul. Gives me the creeps. When we walk past them, I flip my hair and smirk at Nate. He raises his eyebrows and follows me. I look over at Caroline, and she leaves. He walks up next to me. He has to lean down to whisper in my ear. "Why did you do that? Who was your brother?" He looks at me. "Jacob. You should remember that. You were the one who killed him." He looked stunned. "What ever you think I did, I didn't." I can't believe him. I grabbed his shirt and dragged him into the janitors closet. "Don't you dare try and lie. I was there. I saw you drive the metal pipe through his heart." He is pushing the wrong buttons. He grabbed my shoulders. "Ava, listen. What you saw, wasn't the truth." Tears threaten to spill over my eyes, so I turn away and don't look at him. "Ava," he grabs my chin and forces me to look at him. "Why are you trying to lie to me?" I have started crying. "You don't understand-" I cut him off. "I hate you. I hope you know that." I leave his grasp, grab my bag that fell to the ground, and run out. "Ava! Wait," he calls running after me. I ignore him, and run the bathroom. Out of the corner of my eye I see him punch a locker. I don't see him for the rest of the day.
