xxxxxv. Midnight Ghosts

Let the darkness swallow us;
Mindful oblivion.
No more faults and fuss;
A promise of peace of mind.

Night and day differ by light,
Unlike you and me.
With souls as dark as ebony wood,
We are assured of our inevitable doom.

Breathing never but at night;
Strength to fight, drawn from the light;
We're just midnight ghosts,
Hunting for love amidst the darkness
of the day.
