My Student, My Lover

Chapter 1

"Magboyfriend ka na para may hatid sundo ka everyday." Asar ni kuya sakin habang pinapasok ang malaking maleta sa loob ng apartment ko.

Agad ko siyang sinapak sa balikat. "Kuya Wax naman e'! Isusumbong talaga kita kay mommy pinapaboyfriend mo na ako kaagad, kakagraduate ko nga lang nung March." Sabi ko at inirapan siya.

Tinawanan niya lang ako. "Nasa kapanahonan ka pa ba ng mga Espanyol? Go get a boyfriend already!"

I just mocked at him and stuck out my tongue.

"Alam mo bunso, natatakot lang kasi akong tumanda kang dalaga." Bigla lang siyang humalakhak.

Pinaningkitan ko siya ng mata. "Let's see kung sino sa ating dalawa ang tatandang walang asawa." Hamon ko sa kanya.

"Whatever Yanney, alis na ako I still have to go to my office. Take care, mami-miss kita." Sabi niya at ginulo ang buhok ko.

"Wow natouch naman ako." I said sarcastically and held my chest.

Pinitik niya ang noo ko kaya't sinamaan ko siya ng tingin. "Mami-miss kita kasi wala na akong aasarin sa bahay."

Napaawang ang mga labi ko. "Bwisit! I know si mommy na naman ang pagti-tripan mo sa bahay." Bulyaw ko.

"Siyempre naman. Wala na si bunso e, sege na ang daldal mo talaga. Alis na ako!" He said and waved his hand like a gay. I just gave him a disgusted look before getting inside my room.

Napailing-iling nalang ako sa isip bata kong kuya. He was 28 and just recently broke up with his 18th girlfriend. Malandi kasi kayang walang nagtatagal. His name was Wax Julio Mayhem Sperbund, nagtatrabaho sa isang malaking accounting and auditing firm. Kahit sira-ulo yun, CPA naman. I envied his long name. God! I hated mom. She gave me a very short and simple name, Yanney. Yanney Sperbund. Si daddy ang nagpangalan kay kuya at si mommy naman sa akin.

I was reminded of my dad again who left us 12 years ago. He already had a new family in Norway but he still sent us some money for our needs and wants. He was also the one paying for our school expenses. My mom was a school principal in highschool. Ngayong may trabaho na ako, silang dalawa nalang ni kuya sa bahay. Mas malapit kasi ang workplace niya kaysa sa akin.

Two months had passed since I graduated in college with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy like my brother. But I didn't review for the CPA board exam yet. I was not planning to take it either. Pakiramdam ko hindi ko pa panahon iyon. My life, my rules. I was absorbed by my alma mater, Vleeck University, because of my good grades so they took me as one of the instructors in the department of Business and Accountancy. I only had a month before the new school year started. So I spent all my time attending some seminars and lectures to develop my skills in teaching. Good thing, Vleeck helped me with it. I just recently moved out from the house. Dad wanted to buy a condo unit for me but I thought it was too much so I refused and got an apartment instead. Dad was thoughtful.

It was June and I had to start a new life not as a student but as an instructor.

"Good morning Ms. Sperbund. Have you printed your class schedules?" Dr. Dahlia, the dean of our department, asked me when she saw me entering the department's office.

I stopped and answered her. "Good morning Dr. Dahlia. Yes I did, my first class will be at 9 o'clock." I smiled.

"Good!" She smiled back.
