By this time it was 6am. Basil and Olivia made it back to Baker Street as fast as they could. Once they arrived at the front door of Basil's flat, they noticed that all the lights were off. It was very peculiar, considering Mrs Judson would always be up by then, making breakfast, cleaning the flat. Basil looked in the window.
"What's the matter, Basil?"
He came away from the window and reached out his hand to open the front door. As they opened the door, Basil reached out to his left to turn on the light for the living room, then found out the power had been switched off.
"Curse it!" Basil exclaimed. He ran into the emergency drawers beside the door and picked out a torch. Olivia could hear mumbling. She couldn't quite make out whom it was. The sound of tugging, went along with the mumbles. Basil turned the torch on and tried to shine it on every glimpse of the room.
"Do you hear that?" Olivia whispered.
"Yes. Follow me." Basil lead the way, Olivia closely behind him. The noise sounded like it was coming from the kitchen. They entered. Nothing. Just a sink, with a slow running tap.
"Where is Mrs Judson?" Asked Olivia, anxiously.
"Not here, anyway." He stormed into the conservatory. Again, nothing. "Miss Kitty is not around either."
"They might still be asleep." Olivia, suggested, checking a cupboard.
"They're both usually up by now, and the flat is usually being gutted." Basil replied, whilst coming back through from the kitchen, back into the living room. "Let's not jump to conclusions though." He grinned at Olivia, before leaving the kitchen. Olivia looked around, into the darkness, before following him.
They both headed upstairs.
"I really don't have a good feeling about this, Basil."
"Would you rather wait outside?" He replied.
"No, of course not."
"Didn't think so." He replied, harshly.
"There is no need to be like that."
"There is no need for you to be whining!"
There was a short silence. Olivia tried to hold back her anger. Basil turned around, slowly to her, looking sympathetic.
"The last thing I want to do is fight with you." Olivia stated.
Basil sighed.
Just then, all the lights went on. They were flickering at first, but finally they came to halt when they were on. Basil, hesitantly turned his torch off and put it in his pocket.
"What on earth is going on?"
They both heard someone grunting. They both looked either side.
"Hello?" Olivia called out.
It was coming from the cupboard on their left. They both walked, slowly towards the door and Olivia reached out her hand. Inside the cupboard was- Mrs Judson, all tied up. Olivia gasped in horror.
"Oh my goodness!" Cried Olivia.
"Mrs Judson!" Basil exclaimed.
They both rushed towards her scratched the tap off her mouth. She screamed in pain as Basil pulled it off.
"Sorry."
"It's OK, Mr Basil. I'm so glad you're both here, at last!"
"What happened? Who did this?" Olivia asked, curious.
"I couldn't quite tell you. I never saw the face."
"Can you describe what you saw, at least? Please, Mrs Judson; this could be important." Basil pleaded.
"Well, there was more than one. I had turned all the lights off, but as I headed to turn in, the fuse started to behave a little funny. I knew there was something wrong; whoever it was whom was doing that, was trying to scare me- it worked. I turned around... there was one, tall, dark figure. One was half the size of him, and had a long tail. There were about two more people. From what I could tell, was a female mouse due to her giggle, the other a male. Next thing I knew, everything was black. I woke up several hours later, and whilst I was gaining consciousness, I heard someone screaming; it sounded like..." Her eye sight was caught by something else, other than Basil and Olivia.
"Like who, Mrs Judson! Who?"
Mrs Judson had gone into shock. She began to shake. She turned back to them both.
"Miss Kitty..." She replied, pitifully.
Basil leaned back, hoping she was wrong. Olivia's paw covered her mouth.
"Are you sure, it was definitely her?" Basil asked, sternly.
Mrs Judson felt something against her hand. It was a piece of paper. Olivia spotted it.
"What's that?" She reached over and grabbed it.
The note read:
Miss Kitty has moved out, and she's going to a new home to live with me and my henchman. If you ever come looking for her, you'll regret you didn't; it may just be the last thing you ever do, Basil of Baker Street. I would love to see your face again, after all this time, but I'm stronger than ever before. This time, you will lose.
Your old friend
Olivia's eye sight looked at the window, and she saw the green lizard from ten years ago, smirking at her. Olivia screamed and stood up.
"Olivia, what is it?" Mrs Judson asked.
"There was somebody at the window."
Basil examined the window.
"Nobody is there."
"Please believe me." Olivia began to shake.
Basil untied Mrs Judson.
"Both of you, stay here." Basil went outside the house.
"Be careful!" Mrs Judson advised, hugging Olivia to try and calm her down.
When he got outside, he looked down the whole street; there was no sign of anyone. But when he looked to his feet, he saw footprints. It was not human's, nor a mouse. Just then, all the street lights on Baker Street started to burst, one by one, in a single file, down the street. Very strange, Basil thought. Who was behind all this?
Basil went into his upstairs neighbour, Sherlock Holmes's flat. He noticed that a plug, at the side of the living room, had been exposed. He went closely to examine it- it was though as if the plug had been bitten; not cut by human hands.
He rushed back outside, to check the wiring in the street lights- exactly the same thing happened. Basil thought to himself. He heard somebody behind him. He looked behind him, but nobody was there. He then heard screeching behind him again. His heard turned, slowly.
"Long time no see."
Just then, Basil hit the floor unconscious.
