A few hours had past. Basil still remained unconscious from the hit by whatever or whoever it was. He heard a familiar, friendly, feminine voice.
"Basil?"
As he gained, consciousness, his eye sight focused perfectly to see Olivia and Mrs Judson looking down at him. Olivia was on his right hand side, next to him, whilst Mrs Judson was a few steps back from him.
"Basil, are you OK?"
He sat up, slowly and grunting.
"I'm not dead, so I guess so." He replied, rubbing his head.
"Can you tell me how old you are?"
Basil looked at the young, teenage mouse, confused.
"Why is that relevant, Miss Flaggerman?"
"To see how your memory is doing."
"Well, I remember just top notch." Basil hissed. He picked the cog from out of his pocket and stood up. "Come on, quickly! We have to find out where this cog is from!"
The three of them both ran inside. Mrs Judson disappeared into doing her own thing- work. Olivia was hanging beside him, letting Basil have his space so he could properly concentrate. He held the cog closely to him. He noticed a certain cut and dent,
"This cog is definitely too big to fit inside an alarm clock or decorative clock."
"What do you suppose?" Olivia asked.
Without answering, Basil sniffed the cog. The scent was all so familiar, that it brought him back 10 years ago when he and Dawson were trying to rescue Olivia. It was the exact cog, that came from the inner circumference where Basil and Ratigan had their last battle.
There was a long silence. He dropped the cog into a dish, surprised. He could not believe it. In fact, he didn't want to believe it.
"It came from Big Ben."
Olivia stood there, confused.
"How is that possible?"
Then Basil looked closer, he saw a rip from a cloak. Not just anyone's old cloak, but Ratigan's.
"He chose the most peculiar place for a hide-out. Then again, he done that so nobody, namely me, would suspect it to be there." Basil explained, as he took the piece from the cloak out from the cog and shown it to Olivia. Olivia got closer.
"Because that was the place where he almost lost his life- why would he want to go back?" Olivia added.
"Precisely." Basil awarded, quietly.
"We did it!" Olivia gasped with happiness. "Basil, I can't thank you enough." She held her arms out for a hug. At first, Basil was disturbed, but she was too happy, and he didn't want to disappoint her, or take it away from her. He stood up and pulled her closely. Once he had her, he didn't want to let go. She had a scent that was strong, but like a rose to the nose. He felt magic fireworks come out of the hug. He stroke her long, golden, blonde, wavy hair. Olivia couldn't believe she got Basil of Baker Street to hug her; like he meant it, and not an awkward hug, she got as a kid from him. She let out a deep sigh as she rest her head on his chest, smiling.
"Thank you so much for helping me again, Basil."
Basil cleared his throat.
"My pleasure." He said, quietly. He thought the hug was getting inappropriate. Luckily, Olivia pulled away, but she stared into his emerald eyes.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you."
Basil started to feel, more and more awkward. Olivia's brain ticked.
"I have a brilliant idea!" She exclaimed. "I can be your new trusted assistant."
Basil snapped out of it. "I'm sorry, what?"
"You and I. We can work together now that Dawson is gone. I can be your blog writer." She explained, looking positive.
"Miss Flangerman, don't be silly. You're too young and you belong in Scotland, with your father, studying."
Olivia's hopes and dreams were shattered into a thousand pieces in ten seconds. Her smile faded, She was distraught that he still believed she still a child, and not the grown up woman she knew she was.
"Now, come on! We have business to attend." He turned away to walk out the door.
"But Basil-" She was interrupted by him.
"Livy, please!" He shouted.
Olivia was stunned in silence. Nobody called her Livy, apart from Fievel. He had an excuse, because they have known each other for a long time. Fievel had came up with it, and it seemed to be just his and Olivia's thing. Obviously, things change. When Basil called her that, something inside Olivia ticked. Basil sighed, in guilt.
"I refuse to argue with you for as long as you are in London. Now, please, can we just drop it?" He didn't turn back, because he didn't want Olivia to see him doubting himself. He walked on ahead, and Olivia watched him, standing there hurt. Eventually, she began to follow.
"If only-"
"-you knew."
They both said the same things, under their breathes at the same time.
