So I'm not sure if I should've waited and written more in this chapter, but I also didn't want to wait soo long to finally update. This is also the reason why I haven't really double checked on any errors, so sorry for that. School's been very busy again, so I hope I can write as much as I can!
Also, would anyone be interested in another Caspian fic set in the voyage of the dawn treader? Or in a Peter fanfic set after prince caspian and during the last battle...? Let me know, cause I need to work on those drafts.
Anyway, enjoy this short-ish chapter!

Despite the depature of the Kings and Queens of Old, the Narnians were celebrating. After years of having to hide from people that had invaded their home and made it unsave, they finally got to live in their kingdom again without having to fear going outside or having to flee into the forest. They would not let that go un-celebrated.
It was surely a sight to behold. Fauns were playing lovely melodies on their flutes, some of the dwarves were drinking and dancing whilst stumbling over their long beards, Glenstorm was watching them celebrate as he stood next to his wife and Trufflehunter was laughing with Trumpkin as they told tales about Caspian and Muriel.
The talking badger had gotten a bit carried away and he spoke with a little too much enthousiasm about the incident in which Muriel had almost set their house on fire when she tried to cook once. Meanwhile, Trumpkin was laughing with some others as he told them how Caspian had been brought -or rather dragged- to their front door.
Little did they know that Reepicheep and Caspian, King Caspian, were listening in on the stories as well.
Reepicheep was smiling to himself and had to stop himself from laughing out loud when Trumpkin got to the part where he had made his introduction and had held his sword to Caspian's face. The mouse glanced sideways at the Narnian king, smiling, but realized that Caspian was no longer paying attention to the conversation, nor to the feast. Instead, he was gazing around the ballroom, looking like he'd lost something -or rather someone.-
"Are looking for someone, Sire?"
It took the young king a moment to snap out of his daze, but when he looked down at the honorable mouse beside him he sighed. "I am Reep." His eyebrows furrowed, Caspian gazed around the room as he adressed the issue. "Have you seen Muriel anywhere?"
Reepicheep took his turn to look around the room. He didn't see the Archenlander princess either, partly because his height did not let him look over the heads of their guests, but also because the princess was not present. The mouse glanced back up at the king and shook his head.
Caspian sighed when he realized his assumptions to be right: Muriel wasn't with the other Narnians to celebrate their succes, nor had she told him that she wouldn't be. His gaze lingered on the door at the other side of the ballroom, as if he was expecting her to stumble in and start apologizing for being late. Caspian, however, knew that being late was not something Muriel did. He also hadn't seen her leave, so that meant she had not planned on coming at all. He didn't know why that made the corners of his mouth drop, but it did.
"She should be here to celebrate," mumbled the young man.
The mouse looked up at the new king, who looked rather upset that his dear friend was nowhere to be found, and thought that in a way, yes he was right, but at the same time the young woman had just said goodbye to some very close friends and still had another kingdom to worry about. Maybe the young king didn't realize that.
