I wake up in a cold sweat, tears streaming down my face. I sit up, remembering the dream bitterly.

Klein being dragged away, I forced to watch them assassinate all of my friends, one by one, and the desolation and solitude felt so genuine, sharp, intense, and relentless.

That feeling still lingering in my stomach, I look over to Klein, who still slumbers peacefully. Scratching my forehead in frustration and coming up with the thought of breakfast, I get up, slipping on my sword and over armor, deciding to leave a note.

Dear Klein,

I'm just going out for a while to get the group some breakfast. I'll be careful, I promise.

Love,

Skylar

After touch-typing that in, I attach it to the nightstand, then shift out the door silently. Sneaking through the town, I make sure to keep an eye on everything around me, not wanting to take any chances. After a while of walking, I rest beneath a shady tree, when a message box pops up in front of me. I open it, comprehending what Klein will say.

Hey, Skylar,

Thank you for letting me know, and thanks. The guys and I appreciate it. We'll be waiting for you when you get back. And, please, be safe and aware. :)

Love,

Klein

Startled, I close it, studying the area. After a while of relaxing, I stand up, walking to the other town, since the town we're staying at doesn't have a satisfactory bakery, and purchase some biscuits and butter, with some water. Commissioning the haul in my inventory, I start journeying back to the village. As soon as I know it, the sun is a little less than a quarter in the sky when I reach the town. I run up the stairs of the inn, humming to myself, and rapping on the door of the room connecting all the rooms.

"Guys, it's me!" I call through the door, and the door opens Klein smiling.

"Hey, Skylar! Glad to see you made it back okay!" He exclaims, leading me to a table that everyone is gathered around.

"Sorry I took so long, the town was farther than I expected. Anyway, here you guys go." I explain, unloading the food onto the table. Soon, we're all enjoying breakfast around the table, the sun blazing brilliantly through the windows. After that, we decide to spend the rest of the day in this village leveling and clearing out our inventories instead of traveling like intended. Klein and I match up again, venturing the prairies. I tell him of the good spot I found when on my way to get breakfast, which was flooded with monsters. Fighting monsters there raises my level from forty-nine to fifty-three, Klein leveling to fifty-two. By then the sun is slinking through the sky, so we go back to the settlement and file our items. Trading off the drops that I find worthless, I thank the NPC and pace back towards the inn with Klein. We meet up with the guys, who had leveled up a lot since Klein and I had last seen them, which was only a few hours ago, and some of their weapons have entirely changed.

"So, now that it's darker, we should all go through town, putting our finishing touches on our inventories, then come back. I don't want anyone getting captured by the Laughing Coffin when we're asleep, so everyone locks their doors like we did last night, okay?" Everyone nods, and we split up one last time, Klein and I combing town for the things we need. I plop back down on my bed, unfastening my hair again.

"Today went by fast. I don't know if I thought yesterday was just breeze or something, but I can remember everything that happened in detail, when usually I forget what I did in the morning, or a few hours ago." I say, resting my hands on my stomach.
