I hurry and open it, scanning through the message.

Klein, something came up. I'm at the World Tree, and Kirito needs you to come too. It's important.

-Skylar

I sprint out the door without a second thought, stumbling through the darkness until I reach the ledge, and then sprout my wings and launch into the sky towards the World Tree. After a while of flying as fast as I can, I make it, my wings just giving out as I land safely in front of the giant World Tree looming in front of me. I scan my surroundings and see Skylar standing down the steps, waving me over. As I'm running over to her, two hands suddenly reach for her out of the alley she's standing next to her. Before I can yell to her, they grab her, and she writhes and seethes with fury and fear. They drag her into the alleyway, and I sprint down the stairs, skidding around the corner to see Skylar standing there, looking exhausted. Some unfortunate player lies on the ground, groaning, and then they disappear, leaving a whitish silver flame.

"Skylar! Are you okay?" I call over to her, hurrying to stand in front of her. As soon as I step about five steps closer, she suddenly whips around, grabbing my hands, and pinning me against the wall. "W-what're you doing--" Her lips cut me off, nearly scaring the life out of me. When she pulls away, her hands still cupping my face, I'm able to lean away from her. She leans forward, closing the space between us, and then bringing me back into the kiss. It's passionate, I'll admit, but something about it feels off, cold even as if she weren't kissing me because she wanted to. My free hands tremble, but I can't stop them as they find her waist, bringing her closer to me. Inwardly cursing my weakness to Skylar, I find myself returning the kiss, bringing passion and love to it. Her eyes partially flutter open, as if surprised by my actions, but she pushes me back against the wall, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Stop!" A voice cries out from the entrance of the alley, making Skylar and I look over. What I see widens my eyes. I see the real-life Skylar standing in the entrance, panting heavily, eyes wide with both hurt and rage. "Klein, it's me! That's an imposter! Please, stop!" She runs over to us, and I step out of the supposed 'imposter' Skylar's arms, stepping back, glancing between the two of them.

"Klein, I'm obviously the real Skylar," the Skylar with purple hair blinks, her wide eyes filling with tears.

"What are you talking about? I'm the real Skylar!" The real-life Skylar roars, leaping on the other, tackling her to the ground. I stand there, wondering what to do.

"Stop fighting!" I shout suddenly, and the two girls freeze, the real-life Skylar holding the neck of the other Skylar's dress, her clenched fist raised in a punching position. The other Skylar stares up at me, propping herself up on her elbows. "Can someone tell me what in the world is going on?"

"Well, this woman is claiming to be me!" The purple-haired Skylar gasps when the real-life Skylar's grip on her neckband tightens.

"Klein, you've gotta believe me!" Tears fill the scowling real-life Skylar's eyes.

"Okay, okay! Both of you stand up! I'm going to ask you a question that only the real Skylar will know." I sigh, crossing my arms, giving them both stern looks. They both reluctantly stand up, the real-life Skylar dusting her skirts off. Her avatar looks like the one in SAO. "Okay. You have to answer truthfully. The question is, what was the name of my guild in the other game the real Skylar and I used to play?" The real-life Skylar brightens immediately and steps forward beaming.

"It w--"

"Uh, duh, it was the Furry Cakes or something like that." The Skylar with purple hair rolls her eyes, stepping in before the real-life Skylar can continue.
