Falling Down Under

Chapter 1.

The impact sent them reeling. Smouldering clouds of the engine's fumes invaded the air, each cough and splutter was like swallowing invisible acid. Shauna's eyes peeled open, only to be blinded by the abomination of thick red flames snaking around the steel frame. "Tara! Lucie! Amy! MOVE NOW!" She screamed in panic. The four girls hastily got to their feet and sprinted as far as they could. Without turning back they knew it was over.

"Well now what?" Tara questioned while brushing herself down.

"Now, we are stranded here." Shauna answered looking some what startled.

"Where's here" Lucie asked while scanning the area

"Nowhere it would seem" Replied Amy sitting cross legged on the grass.

Shauna looked around curiously at the mile long fields and overgrown hedgrows. The sun's blaring heat painfully reminded her of the previous events. "Well our cars well and truly dead, my phone has no signal, there are clearly no people, and Im hungry."

"MY 3G WON'T WORK!" Wailed Tara.

"Well we did say to stop tweeting the Janoskians about 3 hours ago, and Shauna we just had a McDonalds you can't be that hungry." Amy replied growing frustrated. "Maybe we could hitch-hike?" she said while pointing obviously at the long winded road.

"Are you seriously suggesting that I get into some old man's car, for the next 3 hours until we reach melbourne?" Lucie wailed.

"Looks like you've got no choice, our carriage awaits" Shauna replied while picking up her bags and marching purposefully towards a ratty old truck. "Excuse me, were kind of stranded here as our car just like totally blew up and, well, could you give us a lift to Melbourne please?" Stumbling over the words, Shauna grew anxious awaiting their answer.

"Hey kiddo, don't look so panicked, we ain't gonna eat you. Sure climb aboard, plenty of room. I'll get Skip to clear the seats. How many is there?" His chirpy, surfer dude accent relaxed Shauna as she motioned the other girls over.

"Um..four. Is that ok?"

"Neato! Well what are you waiting for? Jump in!" His enthusiam was welcoming as the four girls clamboured in the battered lump of metal. "Pleased to meet you Shauna, I'm Roland. Should take us roughly 3 hours to reach Melbourne so I hope you like a bit of AC/DC cause that's whats on offer" Shauna smiled quietly as the truck picked up speed. Her eyelid's began to flutter simultaniously. The light streaked out the remaining gap and then nothing could be seen.
