Patrick had finally come home from school at 3:30pm... I had told him I would be waiting for Andy so I couldn't come and get him. At least he had Joe to walk with.
"Hey!" I said, smiling as he walked through the door.
I think after a little more time of thinking, I came to the conclusion that I may have actually started liking this kid. He was pretty cool and was in desperate need of some love that I was willing to give him. But I couldn't. He's a minor, so...
He smiled back, Oh God that smile of his! "Hey! This is Joe!"
Just then, a guy with a big fro walked in and smiled. He was taller than Patrick and I. "Aye, bro... what's up! You're Patrick's babysitter?"
Patrick groaned. "He's not my sitter... he's just..."
"Here to help." I rescued quickly.
Patrick looked down and blushed. "Yeah... that..."
Joe smiled wider. "Cool!"
Then there was a knock at the door. I walked out and answered the door to see my best friend, Andy, smiling at me. "Hey, Pete!"
"Heyy, dude!" I said cheerfully.
He laughed. "So a movie night?" he asked as I stepped aside.
"Yep!"
He walked in. "We haven't one of those in years!"
"I know!"
"These movies better be good!" he chuckled.
I laughed. "That was one time! And how was I supposed to know The Romantic Comedy was literally, a romantic comedy!?" I asked.
"Lets just not talk about it..." He put a hand up.
I laughed. "Well, Patrick has really good taste so... chances are, these movies are really good!"
I mean, they sound good... two of them have Will Smith in them... IRobot and I Am Legend. Along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
None of them I've ever seen before, so... fingers crossed.
After introductions, we went out to the living room and took our spots; Joe on the floor, Andy in the chair and Patrick and I on the couch.
When the guy killed his dog in I Am Legend, Patrick burst out in tears.
"Dude, it's just a movie!" I said, pulling him into a hug.
"No! They killed the dog! They can kill as many people as they want... but the animals! They're monsters!" he sobbed into my shirt.
I laughed lightly. "You picked out this movie, you watch it!" I said.
He shot me a joking glare before turning back to the TV and resting his head on my shoulder.
Honestly, I didn't even think I was gay... I mean... I like a girl here and there, but this kid... he's a fucking angel!
-Time.Skip.To.Joe.and.Andy.Leaving-
I shut the door after Patrick and I said our goodbyes and turned back to Patrick.
He smiled at me. "That was so much fun!" He cried.
I smiled. "I knew you'd like it!" I said, putting an arm around his shoulder and leading him to the kitchen.
"Pete?"
"Hmm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Spill!"
"Um... yesterday... when we were about to... uh... kiss, you pushed me away. Why?" He was so nervous.
I frowned Then smiled. "Look, Trick... you're a really awesome kid, but, we only just met two days ago. I'm not into fast moving relationships because they're usually ruined by the end of the week." I explained.
He nodded and looked down, blushing slightly.
I smiled and put a hand on his shoulder. "Anything else?" I asked.
He shook his head and turned, walking up the stairs.
-An.Hour.Later-
I heard crying. Why was I hearing crying? It shouldn't be... oh no! I hopped up the stairs and ran into Patrick's room.
He was curled up in the corner, hugging a pillow to his chest, eyes red and puffy and cheeks blotched.
I walked over to him and sat down. I put an arm around him and tried to calm him. "What's wrong?" I asked.
He shook his head and buried his face into his pillow.
I noticed his phone laying a couple feet away from him, and I grabbed it and turned it on. The first thing I noticed; Facebook... (who uses Facebook anymore? Anyone? I won't judge!) The second; Messages...
"Patrick's a lazy ass son of a bitch who needs to kill himself."
"We'd all be happier without him!"
"We were before he was born!"
"What's he worth?"
"Nothing! To the whole fucking universe!"
"Do the universe a favor, Patrick... kill yourself!"
What the hell is wrong with people! They say this is bullying!? Well, this is just a whole new level that's unacceptable!
I looked up at Patrick who was now lying on the floor hugging the pillow and frowned at him. "What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"What?" he sniffled, looking at me.
"What do you want me to do?" I repeated. "I can't talk to the principal or the teachers, that'll only make it worse."
He shrugged. "Leave me alone to die." He hugged his pillow tighter and sobbed harder.
I crawled over to him and wrapped my arms around him, bringing him closer to me. "Its okay... we'll be okay..." I whispered, running my hands through his hair. I kissed his forehead a couple times.
Finally, he fell asleep. I picked him up and laid him in his bed before planting a soft kiss on his lips. I brushed a few strands of hair from his forehead and gave him a sad smile, though he couldn't see me. "What're we gonna do with you?" I kissed his forehead and walked out, closing the door behind me.
