Captain America: The First Avenger - Chapter One: "Prologue"

WHEN  DIANA OF THEMYSCIRA was born, joy was spread all across Olympus. The Amazon women sang with glee and the Olympian God's and Goddesses celebrated with fine wine. Their greatest warrior was born at last.

Diana's birth was the miracle solution to the errors of the past. This being a battle that sought to bring about the destruction of all Grecian Gods.

It began with a fire of hate that was ignited within one of their own, Ares, the God of War. He despised his father, Zeus, and his creation of mankind. And with the prized possession of the great Gods, an infinity stone, Ares strengthened his abilities and spread his corruption through to all of humanity. Earth was left defenceless as he killed the Gods one by one, leaving nothing but destruction in his path.

Zeus, using the last of his power, stopped Ares, banishing him and leaving him wounded to the brink of death. With his final breath, the God of the Sky created Themyscira, a place of refuge for the Amazons, to ensure that one day, if Ares returned, he would be stopped.

During Zeus' days of battle, the Greek Gods conversed with the Norse Gods, allowing access to the bifrost to be given to Amazons upon his death. This was so that the Amazons were never truly separated from mans world, and in the event of invasion, they may find refuge in Asgard. Although despite this, they were advised to protect the island, and Zeus' child.

Odin, keeping his promise to a dying Zeus, forged an alliance with Themyscira to help keep them hidden from Ares and the outside world.

And all had been quiet ever since.

Themyscira is a beautiful place. It is the home of the Amazons, an elite force of women warriors that once kept peace and balance within the world. Before Zeus died, he left Themyscira a gift sent down from Olympus. His child. She was once sculpted by clay and born as a God Killer, a weapon that could be used to defeat Ares.

Diana of Themyscira was granted a gift by each of the 6 members of the Greek Pantheon:

Demeter, great strength;

Athena, wisdom and courage;

Artemis, a hunter's heart and a communion with animals;

Aphrodite, beauty and a loving heart;

Hestia, sisterhood with fire;

Hermes, speed and the power of flight.

Throughout her childhood, her abilities began to manifest and grow stronger. Even when she completed her training, she discovered more and more abilities she never knew she had. Diana was by far, the finest warrior ever made among the Amazons.
