Nasir was working on something on his system when Al-Amin came into his office. "He couldn't even say Salam" Nasir wondered and was about to speak when he received a punch in the chest. "Are you..?" he started before another one landed on his nose and he instantly started to bleed.
"The first one was for the pain you put Minal into and the second one, for making people accuse me of being responsible." he said and began to roll up his sleeves. "And the last one..."
"Please gentleman. Let's sit and talk and then you'll understand and know I'm not responsible for all these. " Nasir pleaded. "Fine. But if you give me a lame excuse, I'm going to give you two more." Al-Amin warned. It took some moments before Nasir settled down because he had to stop his bleeding nose and clean some cuts.
He cleared his throat and began to speak with Al-Amin's gaze fixed on him. "I came back home two days before the wired so tired and exhausted and rushed to my room where I had a quick shower, prayed and lay down to have some rest when my little sister came in and said my parents were calling me. I didn't suspect anything was wrong. I thought they called to learn about how far with the preparations or something else but I was beyond surprise when I got to the living room. My parents were in no good mood." he paused and sipped from a glass of water .
"Do you know so much about the girl you're about to marry? " my father asked. I looked up at my mother who was sending me death glares and then back toy father. "Yes Abba" I replied drawing circles on the rug.
"Well!," my father said clearing his voice. "It looks as if you don't. News just got to us that the girl you're about to wed is doesn't have a father." he finally said after all the coughing and sighing.
"Innalillahi WA Inna ilaihi raji'un" I began to repeat continuously. I was so shocked that words weren't coming out. I couldn't even find them. "Yes Abba. Her father is late" I finally managed to utter.
"Aren't you aware of the fact that he disowned her before he died? Aren't you aware of the things she does that led to that. Things she inherited from her Sudanese mother who has her eyes on worldly things?"
"No Abba. This is false. Minal and her father were on very good terms Abba. Who ever said this is... "
"...Shut up! " Hajiya my mother interrupted. "We have turned to liars right. Will your father and I sit back and watch you marry into a broken family."
"Calm down Hajiya." My father said. She went back to her seat and was panting heavily. "I want you think over this Nasir. I've promised myself not to force my children into doing what they don't want. If you insist... " I was starting to regain my composure. His words were at least encouraging but not before my mother interrupted.
"Never! We are giving him no chance. This marriage is not holding Nasir. I repeat it isn't holding." I stood up and went to kneel in front of her placing my hands on her laps. "Dan Allah Hajiya. Please. This isn't true. I truly love Minal and I can't call off this wedding. Please.... "
Her fingers landed on my cheeks making me swallow the rest of my words as tears began to stream down my cheeks. "Look Nasir. This marriage should go on only if I'm not your mother. I permit you to carry on with this wedding if you believe neither did I carry you in my womb for nine months nor did you feed on my breast milk. She said and with that, she exited the room.
I was left all alone Mr.... ?"
"Al-Amin" Al-Amin answered. "
"I was left all alone Al-Amin. No one to talk to and my mother's words kept ringing in my ear. I had no choice other than to call of the wedding although, they did before I even agreed. I know I did not wrong my not explaining all these to Minal but I just couldn't bear speaking to her or seeing her. I still love her and I'm still willing to make her mine."
He was now crying like a lady and Al-Amin just sat there looking at him. "I'm so sorry for being violent and I understand everything you've told me. I would have narrated it to Minal but it would be better if you do it yourself. Find a time Nasir, she deserves an explanation. And just in case you don't know, Minal isn't mad about this because she's a righteous woman and she believes in destiny. And I must commend you for the good decision you made."
Nasir felt much better after narrating everything to Al-Amin and he instantly began to make arrangements. He has to meet Minal as early as possible before Nana comes back. He has seen billions of her calls but he never made the mistake of picking any.
Al-Amin on getting home played the record for Mummy and Umar to listen and he went outside to speak to Nabilah.
"I'm sorry man. Umar finally said after waiting for hours for Al-Amin to end the call. "You did nothing." Al-Amin said shaking his head. "Just learn how to trust some certain set of people especially if that person is me" he said punching him on the chest.
"Can't you survive without punching?" Umar asked groaning. "Did I mention punching Nasir? " he asked and Umar shook his head. "Well, I did. He even deserves it for making me go into all these stress just to meet him.
"I pity the day you'll be turned into a punching bag. "I'll just have to deny knowing you at that moment? " Umar teased. "Well, you deserve two punches for that." Al-Amin said and began to walk towards Umar.
"Had it been I could walk" Umar muttered. Al-Amin stopped abruptly and watched his friend as he looked at his legs as if he were pleading with it. "Don't worry about this Umar. Allah has his reasons. "A night thingy as usual 😎😎
Did I just hear someone say Minal and her father weren't on good terms before he died? Someone should please consult her DIARY.
