Magnus Mantini is a Dad

Jana was silent as he held Arth to him and did not come out of Arth's room. He was upset. He didn't expect Magnus to be all gracious about it, but the man was outright rude to his son. He had hopes that maybe they can work something out, but now everything seemed impossible. 

Meanwhile, Magnus was silent. He was resting and he knew he has badly upset the two people in his room, so he chose to stay in the hall.

"You know yesterday he was shivering like a leaf, crying, not to see his dad, but you. When he asked me that question after Jana left, that was what came to my mind which is why I told him to ask you," said Clement and walked off.

Samuel came down and sat next to Magnus.

"Do you not like Arth?" asked Samuel.

Magnus gave him a look.

"I know he wouldn't have appeared in our wolf line if you did not consider him your kid," said Samuel.

"I was taken aback. I- I don't know what Arth's dad want this to be. How will I answer him when we have never spoken about it. I was too pissed off," asked Magnus.

"You know, being a father is a big responsibility. You were not ready to be a dad. But there is a kid now who looks at you like you are his superhero. If you can't love him as he loves you, maybe, keeping things at stepfather level would be better and he will still love you and respect you but you would be his stepfather," said Samuel.

Magnus looked crestfallen in the one moment he let his mask of nonchalance break. Samuel smiled inside as he got up and left. His brother had always been a little idiot.

Magnus saw the main room was empty and saw a light in Arth's room. Magnus opened the door and saw Jana curled up in the bed. He seemed to be looking at the wall as he held Arth close to him. Arth was playing with some spring toy. Magnus stepped in making Jana look up. 

"We never discussed the parenting details. I was surprised," said Magnus. That was as close to an apology and Jana knew it.

"I don't want to force you to a position you don't want to be in. You will resent him then," said Jana.

"I don't resent him and I won't resent him," said Magnus as he sat down on the other side of the bed. Arth was looking between them curiously.

"Do you want me to be your Dada. I thought you liked all your uncles better," said Magnus.

"But they are uncles," said Arth.

Magnus looked at the kid.

"That is true," said Magnus.

"Isco said if you are not my dada, you will not like me," said Arth.

Jana closed his eyes. Arth did not even know the meaning of the word 'like'.

"Emily said not having two dads is bad," said Arth as he toddled over to Magnus. He placed his hand on Magnus' beard.

"Linda, she said you will throw me away when you and dad have new kids," said Arth and Jana and Magnus were equally furious hearing that.

"I said you are nice you will not throw me away. You don't know?" asked Arth. Even though the words were not said right, both of them understood what he asked.

Magnus placed his arms around the kid and hugged him closer. Magnus couldn't believe the woman Linda, the caretaker of the kids' creche had the audacity to talk to kids like that, to his kid like that.

Magnus looked at Jana who looked a furious red but he was looking at them both. 

"There is this family tree for Mantini family, every wolf family has it. Come on, I will show you that," said Magnus as he took Arth in his arms as they went to the unused drawing room. In the wall was the family tree which is made with magic. 

"See, here I am," said Magnus showing where his name was. There was a line joining Magnus' name to Jana's and then an arrow led downward showing Arth Mantini. Jana was so shocked seeing it. He did not have the energy to look up, so he rested his head on Magnus' shoulder who placed a gentle arm around him. 

"Do you know what it read?" asked Magnus.

Arth tried to read.

"That's my name," said Arth smiling.

"Yes and the next?" asked Magnus.

"That's your last name, But mine was Alwar," said Arth.

"It was, It is Mantini now because you are my son," said Magnus.

Arth squealed.

"I like it," he said and ran around them and then ran off to Clement and Samuel.

Jana looked at Magnus.

"If you did not consider him your son, it wouldn't have appeared here. Why on earth did you react so stupidly then" asked Jana, not moving away?

"Well, I don't react well to surprises," said Magnus.

"Okay," said Jana looking at him. Jana kissed him. Magnus was surprised but he kissed back, pulling Jana closer to him as he deepened the kiss and bit down on Jana's lips. They sighed as their lips parted for much-needed air. Jana was red as Magnus smirked looking down at him.

"Well, seems not all surprises," said Magnus.

Jana flushed a beautiful red and Magnus found himself unable to look away. He never thought he would see Jana blushing, not the strong-willed Jana who led the royal pack against him, never. And, good god, was it breathtaking. It definitely was.

Magnus walked into the hall, Jana beside him. Magnus looked at Clement.

"Get Linda and then Emily's parents and the two beta's. Now," said Magnus.

"What happened?" asked Samuel as Clement rushed out leaving a pouty Arth behind.

Jana took Arth who was gushing about a story Clement said.

Magnus looked at him and told him what all the woman told him.

"You will let me punish her," said Samuel, brooking no arguments.

Magnus nodded. Jana almost groaned. His son has all Mantini men wrapped around his little finger.
