Jana walked beside Magnus as they entered into the wood. He knew as they went in, he will transform and Magnus will see his wolf form for the first time. They have fought only in human form. He knew what Magnus looked like as a wolf and to be frank he absolutely liked the black fur. He was white as a feather and he looked at Magnus who was now in his black fur and was looking at him. Magnus sniffed his white wolf. Jana extended his neck for his mate to smell. It was instinctual. Magnus made sure that his mate smelt of him and then they ran to the woods.
Magnus showed him the packs settlements and they heard murmurs from the pack members as they proceeded.
"Isn't that Prince Jana?" asked one.
"Doesn't he smell like Alpha Magnus though?" said another.
"Does that mean!" they were looking at each other.
Jana felt at home here. He could feel the conflicts in the land. The echoes of its past talking to him of their pain.
"Are you able to hear it?" asked Jana.
Magnus nodded. "The voice is more intense since I - since we met," said Magnus.
Jana stopped.
"That is because you are not just hearing the pain of Hallerbos anymore," said Jana.
"What do you mean?" asked Magnus.
"I- I can hear every distress call in the entire Kingdom of Manowar. You will too," said Jana.
Magnus understood.
"Interesting," he said but did not elaborate.
"Listen, yesterday I was angry. I - ," Jana couldn't finish the sentence.
"Don't sweat it," said Magnus a bit harshly.
They got back to the house.
Arth was running around the yard and Clement was chasing him as Samuel looked indulgently. However, the moment Samuel felt eyes on him, he looked up.
"Seriously? Before mating you took your vulnerable selves to the woods?" asked Samuel disapprovingly.
"Well, he is the princeling. He is just fine," said Magnus as he stormed in.
Once he was out of ear sight, Clement said.
"Those wolves had killed 18 families among them there were 9 kids just around the age of Arth. They were shredded. He- not just him, no one would be able to show mercy to them," said Clement without looking up from where he was playing with Arth.
"That does not make him any better than those dead wolves," said Jana
"And I am learning some wizardry to silence the rooms," said Jana.
Samuel snorted.
"He is an Alpha. He does not stop killing wrongdoers just because he has a mate and said mate got knocked up and now has a kid even before he met him. That is asking too much of him. Learn to accept him as he is or you can leave. Don't hurt him," said Samuel and walked off.
Jana was silent. He went up and saw Magnus was freshening up.
Magnus looked at him but did not say anything.
"I want him to have the company of same age kids," said Jana.
Magnus was silent for a moment.
"There are two-day care centres or you can send him to human daycare centres. He is too young for the wolf to cause any troubles," said Magnus.
"I would rather he grow up in the pack and make friends in the pack," said Jana.
Magnus nodded.
"I will talk to my beta's. They run one of them. Their own kid is also in the same centre," said Magnus.
"That would be great," said Jana.
"I am going to make dinner. If you like a good meal, come down or you can munch on the fruits here," said Jana and went off.
Magnus turned and glared at Jana's retreating back.
"Don't sweat it," said Jana as he walked off.
Magnus went down to see Arth in a high chair. He had asked the beta's to bring one as Jana had asked for. He seems to be splashing less food than all the time he has seen the kid eat.
He sat on Samuel's chair and Magnus can't believe that his brother let go of the chair for the boy. He never does that.
"Thi chair is no good," said Arth keeping his fork down and folding his hand ready for a tantrum from the looks of it. Jana came over and helped him down. He ran to the other head of the table and climbed on Magnus' chair.
"I see, so you were testing all our chairs? He didn't l like mine either," said Clement
Magnus looked at the kid who was looking at him and he realised why his bratty brother and batty brother, both parted with their chairs for the kid. The puppy dog eyes were on point in full strength and any strong-willed man would bow before it and give in and let him have his way. Who can deny a seat to such an adorable kid!
Jana snorted. "I see he is working his puppy dog eyes on all three of you effectively, bringing all three Mantis' to his feet and have his way. He can be and very cute too," said Jana as he kept the food back before him.
Magnus did not say anything.
He saw his brothers started having their lunch as Jana also sat down next on the other side of Arth.
The lunch was delicious and he would be caught dead before he accepts it.
Magnus slept in his bed that day. Jana slept next to him with an arm around Arth. They did not talk about anything.
---------------------------------
A week passed by before they even knew it. Arth got a roof for himself and the new uncles were kind of spoiling him now. Like, the day before Clement had been on a trip to the next pack land for political purpose and then he went to their local market to have a look around and then he apparently found a toy unique to that place and related to their culture and thought it was fascinating and would be a great thing for Arth to have and brought it. Apparently, it was very cheap at 1200 euros and Arth is yet to put it down since he got it in the morning. He liked the bear in the traditional dress.
Magnus walked in. Jana got up seeing the frown on the man's face. Arth squealed as he was running around. He saw Magnus and rushed to him.
"See Unca Clem bot this," he babbled.
Magnus looked at it.
"Hmm," he said acknowledging the kid's words before he went off. Jana took Arth in his arms and held him close to himself.
