Chapter Nine: That's The Worst

The two wandered around the mansion, being overall idiots with spray cheese and whipped cream. The house was in slight chaos, as they were decent enough to clean up part of their messes.

"Well, it's rounding midnight," Kit sighed. Getting off the couch, she grabbed her phone. "I'm going upstairs."

"Hey, what do you think the worst is?" Camel asked.

"Fuck you," Kit grumbled, sitting back down.

"No, seriously, I'm not trying to make you anxious or anything, but what do you think it is?" Camel repeated.

Kit stared at the floor, not speaking. She groaned and stood up, heading for the stairs.

"Kit?" Camel turned around and climbed off the couch. "Kit, if you're going to do a stupid thing, don't do it!" She started running after her companion. "Kit, stop!"

They both walked upstairs, Kit stopping outside owner's room.

"I wanna try on the ring," Kit announced.

"Kit, that's a stupid thing," Camel said. "And we don't do stupid things."

"Yes we do."

"We don't do stupid things once we realise it's a stupid thing," Camel corrected.

Kit pushed open the doors and walked toward the glass case, trying to find a way to get the ring out.

"Kit-"
"WHAT."

"If you're going to try on the ring, I wanna do it too," Camel said. "And you can't say no, 'cause - well, I'm just not gonna let you say no."

Kit rolled her eyes, but nodded anyway. Finally, she opened the glass case. Wasting no time, she snatched the ring and slipped it on.

"Huh."

"What?" Camel asked, worry coating her voice.

"Nothing. There's literally nothing happening." Kit glared at the ring, putting it back in the case and slamming the glass shut.

"Well, that's a shame," Camel said nonchalantly.

Kit suddenly looked up in fear. Her eyes shot toward the doorway, past Camel, searching for something that wasn't there.

"Kit?" Fear crept into Camel's words. "Kit, are you okay?"

Saying nothing, Kit slowly walked toward Camel and pushed her out of the way, scanning the hall cautiously.

"Don't you hear that?" Kit whispered.

"Hear what?" Camel asked. "Dude, you're scaring me. What's going on?"

"Someone's... laughing. And... and I think... it's a girl? Maybe?" Kit muttered.

"Kit, you're stoned. There's nobody else here, and I don't hear anything." Camel rolled her eyes, grabbing her friends hand. "Okay., I'm gonna make us tea and then you're going to lie down. Obviously, that ring has some serious side effects."

She dragged her reluctant friend down the hallway.

"AHH!" Kit yelled, grabbing Camel and dragging her down to the floor.

"What, you maniac?!" Camel hissed. "WHAT?!"
"Th... thhhssss..." Kit couldn't say anything. Her face was almost white as a sheet. "Dog. Big one. Hellhound," she finally whispered.

"There's nothing there, dumbass, it's just an emp-" She was cut off by scalding hot breath blowing in her face. "It's right in front of me, isn't it."

Kit squeaked.

"That better be a fucking yes."

Camel grabbed Kit, dashing down the hallway.

"IT'S BARKING AND IT'S NOT HAPPY."

"SHUT UP!" Camel shouted.

"I THINK THIS IS THE WORST," Kit shouted.

"WELL, NO SHIT!"
