Chapter Two: Introductions

Kit walked up to the bar at the front of the room, her nerves jangling as everyone stared at her. The woman behind the bar with white hair and a pink sundress raised an eyebrow.

Clearing her throat, Kit asked, "How do you join a guild?"

Everyone in the room burst out laughing. The red-haired woman sighed but chuckled, walking in with Camel.

The bar lady smiled. "Erza, who are your friends?"

The two turned toward, apparently, Erza.

She laughed. "They were talking about Fairytail, so I took pity. Anyway, Mira, how 'bout you serve a beer to Miss Cocky here?"

Kit grumbled something under her breath as Mira slid the foamy glass down the bar. She handed one to Camel, as well.

"It's the best tap around Fiore. On the house." Mira winked at them.

Kit nodded and sipped her beer. "How do you join a guild?" She asked finally, once the chatter had roused up around the room.

Mira shrugged. "It's really simple. Half these people in here..." she waved her arm towards the crowded tables, "...they just showed up. The other half had parents who worked here or found refuge here. Erza, our best fighter, showed up as a refuge here when she was a kid."

Erza nodded and smiled.

"I'll go get the tools," Mira said, walking down a hallway. Kit watched her until she disappeared behind a turn in the hallway.

"Perv," Camel whispered.

"Shut up," Kit mumbled.
