The dunes themselves are fairly dangerous, but the fact that the Carnivorous Forest is at it's heart tends to seal it's reputation.
The shifting expanse of sand is home to croats, streltich, and numerous crevices. If you don't fall into a ravine and get lost in their winding system of tunnels, you'll likely fall victim to either the unrelenting heat or a hungry croat. Streltich aren't as much of a threat since they really only eat once a month, but it is always advisable that any traveler stays away from suspicious pits in the sand that mark the location of their heads.
Unlike deserts on Earth, the Abinore Dunes will not drop in temperature when the suns go down. They remain a constant temperature of anywhere from 206° Telv to 229° Telv (107°F-130°F) For most Rhailonnians, the temperature is deadly without the proper materials to keep cool. The best option for any traveler is to simply go around the dunes rather than risking death by any means.
