Rain is usually used to portray sadness. When a scene in a movie or sometimes books have a sad scene-be it the character dies or a heart break of some sort-rain is usually mentioned or heard. It intensifies the scene, makes the reader or viewer more sad. Sometimes rain is used in horror movies for the lightning and thunder effect to give the reader or viewer a good spooky vibe.

As Lucy stared into the soulless eyes of a tan man with fiery red hair she couldn't help but freeze after witnessing the act of killing. A few moments ago Lucy watched as her parents were both brutally stabbed, of course her father tried fighting back but to no avail.

The man eyed Lucy. He was excited, and why was he excited? Lucy still does not know.

Lucy had the thought to run away, but to whom can she run to? A police man? The workers of the theater they had just left? A random stranger walking by?

She felt a strong grip on her wrist followed by a harsh yank. The man started walking while holding Lucy.

Lucy couldn't properly render what was happening, how can a seven year old understand death? Sure she's peaked at a few movies her parents watched and they had death, but they always seemed so fake.

The man stuffed her into his normally sized car, not the white van she had always been warned about.

"Where are we going?" Lucy questioned as she watched the road from the window.

The man did an evil chuckle, "far away."

Lucy couldn't help but sob at the thought of never seeing her parents again. The only people that took her to places and bought her ice cream. Or the only people who loved her unconditionally and would always read her to bed or play dress up with, especially her father.

This time the rain wasn't for a horror movie or book. No thunder or lightning was present at that moment. The rain represented sadness, the depressing thought of losing a loved one...at least that's how Lucy remembers it.
