They're all in dance practice and Jin is struggling. That alone isn't very surprising, but he seems worse off than usual. He's tripping over his own feet almost immediately, face red and sweating buckets even though they've only just started. Namjoon keeps an eye on him, worried, and his own dancing suffers for it.
An hour in the choreographer-nim calls for a break, exasperated. The others head off to grab water but Jin stays by himself on the main floor, panting hard and eyes closed. Namjoon drifts closer to him, worried that he may not want anyone close to him right now. That's when he smells it.
Jin's flower and honey scent has kicked up, darker and stronger than usual. It's tinged with something almost pungent and it takes a moment for Namjoon to realize that it's the Omega's slick. He freezes- how has nobody noticed this yet?- and eyes his Omega closer. The other is shaking, fine tremors running through his whole body. The flush in his face has spread down his neck and chest, his white shirt soaked through with sweat and sticking to his skin. Glancing at the others to make sure they don't notice, he stalks over and grabs Jin's arm, hauling him to the far corner of the room. Jin jumps at the touch and whines, making Namjoon worry even more.
He pushes Jin into the corner with his back to it so that Namjoon is between him and the rest of the room, stance protective. He puts a hand on the Omega's neck, cupping his jaw, and Jin leans into it, eyes fluttering. His eyes are glassy, unfocused. "Jin-ah," Namjoon says but the other doesn't respond. He tightens his grip, letting a light Alpha edge slip into his voice. "Jinnie." Jin mewls, knees buckling a little, more than confirming Namjoon's suspicions. "Are you- are you in heat?"
Jin nods sadly, tears filling his eyes as he looks up at Namjoon. "I tried- I-I thought I could make it through p-practice, I thought I-I'd be okay, but it's hitting so f-fast this time."
Namjoon coos, tilting his forehead against Jin's. Jin mewls at the touch. Namjoon would love nothing more than to touch more, to make his Omega stop hurting, but there are others in the room with them. "Baby, you should have told me." Jin doesn't answer, eyes closed again. Namjoon sighs, thumb stroking the line of Jin's jaw. "Stay right here, okay? I'm going to talk to the managers. I'm taking you home." Jin nods carefully and when Namjoon steps away the Omega slides down the wall, curling over his own knees and making himself small. Namjoon's heart breaks but he walks over the the choreographer-nim anyway.
He clears his throat to get his attention, the other turning and eyeing him suspiciously. "Jin is in heat." Namjoon says, straightforward and simple. "He needs to go home."
The choreographer sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I figured something was up. Okay, alright, I'll call a car for him. Go over to the others, we'll start practice again soon."
Namjoon's brows shoot up. "Excuse me?"
"Go to the others." The choreographer says slowly, like Namjoon is an idiot. "I'll start practice as soon as I get a car called in."
"That's not happening." Namjoon says. "I'm not letting him go by himself."
"You need to practice, RM. You know you need more help than the others."
"I don't care. Jin is my Omega, remember? I'm not letting him spend his heat alone."
"You can go as soon as practice is over, I'll let the managers at the studio know what's going on."
"Do you know how disastrous it can be when and Omega in heat is left to their own devices?" But Namjoon knows that the choreographer is a Beta with a Beta wife and Beta kids, so he probably doesn't. "It wreaks havoc on their mental state. If I let him go alone, he'll be heartbroken and fallen apart by the time I get home. That can't happen."
