The worst day of Namjoon's life starts with the managers calling him at four in the morning, waking him up from the pleasant sleep where he'd been cuddled with Jin. "We have an issue." They say, cold and malicious sounding. "You and Jin need to get to the office. Now. There's a car on the way."
Namjoon's heart stops in his chest and the manager hangs up before he can even say anything. He pauses but knows that if they're truly this upset, they need to get ready as soon as possible. He drops his phone and looks down at the Omega curled into his chest. "Jin," he says softly, bringing his free arm up to shake the older's shoulder. "Jinnie, wake up."
Jin groans, hiding his face and coiling tighter on himself.
"Jin," he says, voice going hard. He hates it but he's genuinely worried and he needs to get Jin up now. "Wake up."
Jin perks up a little then, raising his head and blinking blearily at Namjoon. "Wha'? Wha's happening?"
"We need to go to the offices." Namjoon says. "Like, now."
Jin starts to raise up, breaking free of Namjoon's hold. "Oh," he says, blinking hard. "Oh, do I need to get the others?"
"No," Namjoon shakes his head sadly. "Just us."
Jin stares at him a moment and they breathe in silence. "Okay." He says, finally.
They get up and change into different clothes, deciding on jeans and t-shirts to look somewhat presentable. Jin puts his glasses on, forgoing contacts, and the both slip on tennis shoes. They go to the kitchen, grabbing protein bars and water just in case they're gone for awhile. There's a light honking from outside the dorm. The car is here.
They go outside in silence, an ominous weight hanging around them. They get into the car in silence. They ride to the offices in silence. It's uncomfortable and unusual, but neither really know what to say.
They get out once they arrive, and a secretary-noona meets them at the door. She leads them down the hall, the click of her heels echoing in the cavernous hallway. She stops by one of the conference rooms, bowing to them as she opens the door. They bow lightly in return. Namjoon turns to look at Jin, who has worry etched all over his face. Namjoon knows he's probably mirroring it. They enter the room to find nearly every manager they've ever worked with surrounding the table, Bang Sihyuk himself sitting at the head.
He's staring at them as they walk in, and tilts his head toward the rest of the table. "Sit." the Alpha says and Jin and Namjoon scramble to follow. The only seats left force them to sit opposite of each other, with managers sitting on either side of them. They sit in silence for a moment, the managers watching then, when Sihyuk speaks up again. "Do you know why I called you both in?"
Anxiety claws up Namjoon's chest but he says, "No." as steadily as he can.
The Alpha sighs, rubbing at his forehead. "You guys have been out with us from the beginning. You came to us straight away when you formed your relationship and it was greatly appreciated."
Jin blinks, biting his lip. "But?" he prompts.
"But," Sihyuk continues. "We told you you could only continue with it if you used absolute discretion. We said much the same to Yoongi and Jimin-ah."
Namjoon freezes. "We have used absolute discretion." He defends. "We've been nothing but careful when in public, in interviews, and whatever else."
"Then why," Sihyuk says, sliding some documents to the manager next to him. The manager passes them down until they're handed to Namjoon. "Did these show up all over the fansites?"
Namjoon looks at the pictures he's been handed. What he finds makes his heart stop, bile climbing up his throat. The photos are dark, but crystal clear. Namjoon remembers the moment perfectly. Jin had wanted to get away from the noise of the dorm for awhile, so they had gone for a late night walk. They had ended up in a park a little ways away, sitting on a little bench and watching the stars. The first picture is of just that. The second picture is of Namjoon watching Jin, the Omega still looking at the sky. The look on Namjoon's face is nothing short of loving. Namjoon remembers how beautiful Jin had been in that moment, moonlight glinting off his pale skin and the lenses of his glasses. The third picture... the third picture, Jin had noticed Namjoon's gaze. The Omega had grinned at him and they leaned in together, kissing lightly under the stars.
