~Sangwoo's POV~
I opened my eyes, reminiscing the dream of the night, waking to the loneliness of the morning. She didn't come home.
Turning onto my side, I stared at the empty space next to me. For some reason, whenever she was away, I felt an emptiness I never knew before I met her. When she was near, all I wanted to do was to keep her near and hide her away from this world where she would be mine ro see, to hear, to touch, to possess. I felt a yearning to make her my eternally obedient submissive who was locked in my basement forever. The only thing that prevented me from doing so, is the hate she'd harbor towards me. Unbeknownst to me, it was the only thing I did not want in this world. Of course, with her absence, only one questioned filled my mind:
Where was she?

~Your POV~
You laughed a little at the joke. Seungbae seemed so quiet in the cafe but on the phone he could get rather talkative-as in, more than two word answers. It was nice. If Sangwoo didn't want you, maybe you could settle for Seungbae. After falling for Sangwoo and his rejection, you realized that you wanted someone to hold and cherish you like you thought your ex did. Apparently the feeling was not mutual.
"What's the status of you and your...?" he didn't know how to refer to him and you didn't blame him.
"Boyfriend, I think." You didn't even have to pretend to be unsure. At this point, you were in the dark, something you were unaccustomed to and had begun to despise. "I haven't broken it up but... is there anything to break up? If it truly was just a fling then I just need to ignore his texts and he'll find another booty call." Your lips curled down and a bile built up in your throat as you imagined Sangwoo leading some horny bitch into his basement where he would touch her in so many dirty ways. Torture wasn't an issue; you just didn't want to share him.
"Hm." Per usual, his response lacked depth in vocabulary but allowed insight that his gears were turning. Despite all the time around him, you still couldn't figure out quite how his gears turned. Right when you think you've got him all figured out, he changes.
"What are you thinking?" you inquire.
"Nothing of concern."
"No need to minimize it. I'm curious of what you have to say on the subject."
"It's really not my place." It almost sounded like he was blushing. Adorable.
"Nonsense, I asked didn't I?"
He gave in. "I think you should cut him out of your life. He clearly has no interest in actually forming a relationship with you and you'd only get hurt in the process." This was definitely not new information to you. From the very beginning you knew this to be true, but that didn't change your feelings about him. Besides, it wasn't like you could ever find a replacement for him. Sangwoo was one of a kind in the sense he was a sadistic murderer just like you. Who else would possibly be interested in killing together, especially to the extent that he was? Clearly there was no one else that would come along like him ever again, so that brought about a very important question: was it worth staying with a man you love whom would never love you in return? You weren't sure anymore.
After a moment of careful thought you replied, with a sigh, "You're right, but I don't think I can leave him yet. I just..." You exaggerate your emotions, which you considered minimal, to sound like a normal person in your situation.
"It's only going to be worse later. You know that." His voice was soft but his tone firm. He was trying to comfort you while being straight; it was rather amusing. You would've laughed if it would not have broken the mood.
"I do." you admit, trying your best to sound reluctant. It was critical to maintain your act of innocence. One slip up could raise his suspicions. That was the problem with keeping intelligent and analytical people like him around, but the average human stupidity became so boring and blasé after a while.
Silence fell after that. There was really nothing left to say. Before it became awkward, however, Seungbae said, "My shift starts soon. I have to go."
You nodded, not that he could see. "Yeah, I should sleep. Bye."
"Night."

(726 words. Sorry for the short chapter. Could not for the life of me figure out what to write and then this came out. Next chapter, which I am already working on, is going to be significantly longer (probably 1,500-2,000 words) so please bear with me.
As always: vote if you liked it, comment what you think, follow if you like my writing, and do all three if you want to make me cry tears of joy! :')
