Your sweater hung loosely on your frame. Despite the hot summer days, it was necessary. You tugged gently on the sleeves, holding the cuffs in your palms, as you sipped your drink.

"So how have you and your boyfriend been?" the dark-haired police officer asked. He had perhaps become what one would consider your best friend. But you had no friends. Relationships were a weakness in a killer's mind. The last thing you needed was a weakness. Especially after that emotional fiasco with Sangwoo.

"Really great. I didn't think moving in together would be this easy. Since he's admitted his feelings for me, everything has honestly been running smoothly. Sometimes though..." You set your drink on the table, looking contemplatively into it. In reality, you were just being overdramatic, per usual. It was bait. "It's nothing." Quickly you took another sip of your drink. Such a flawless air of innocence, even you had to admire yourself.

"Doesn't sound like nothing. Otherwise, you wouldn't have mentioned anything."

Good for you Seungbae, you smiled into the cup. Like most people are trained to, he asked about it; however, unlike most, he knew the trap was there. He just asked anyways. It was rather amusing to you.

"It's nothing really. I guess sometimes it feels like he's distracted. He spends so much time with our puppy, I kind of get a little jealous." You allow an innocent blush to dust your cheeks. "I know it's stupid. I'm jealous of a dog of all things. And I know pets need a lot of attention. I totally get that, but sometimes it feels like I don't get any attention. Guess I just seem petty, don't I?" A fake laugh left your lips. Your act was perfect and convincing per usual. Yes, you were competing with Yoon for Sangwoo's attention, but you really didn't give a fuck. It was far more amusing making Sangwoo jealous or angry. Whether that arose from being making Yoon your puppy or fucking some hoe from a bar in his bed, it didn't matter. All of it was part of your game. A game that you yourself no longer knew the point of.

"You're not petty." He sipped his coffee. It was the same black, boring, hot coffee he always got. You personally tried to change it up at least once a week.

"Then what am I? Just plain crazy?" You laughed.

"For a therapist, I'd think you would know neither of those things are true."

You shrug. He got you there. "Yeah... but sometimes even therapists need self-confirmation. It is human nature, after all."

He grunted in response. Conversation was dead. It was time to spice things up. You smirked into your cup as you took a sip.

"So what about you?"

"Huh?" he made a confused grunt. With all this grunting, he seemed like a neanderthal.

You rolled your eyes as if the answer was obvious. "What about your love life? Do you have a girlfriend? A boyfriend? Do you at least have a crush?"

Seungbae blushed. You could practically "Awe" at how adorable he was being. Both of you knew he currently had eyes for just one person, although that might be because he doesn't talk to many others except his coworkers who make fun of him. It's a shame such a big teddy-bear didn't have anyone, but you were in no way the one for him. He'd have to move on some time or another. Perhaps that wouldn't be until he talked to you in an orange uniform through glass, like that would ever happen. You'd die before then.

"No. I'm not seeing anyone."

"But what about a crush?~"

"No," he lied. "I don't really talk to many people."

"You don't say." you laugh a little, teasing him. "I don't think I've met anyone that's as an extreme introvert as you." His faint blush became ever-so-slightly darker. "Don't worry. It's not bad. Just makes you unique and interesting to talk to."

"Thank you." He took another drink from his cup, trying to hide his blush. You laughed a little before letting silence fill the space between you for a few moments.

Now's the time. "Well, I should probably go." You let your sleeve fall from your palm as you took a final sip of your drink. Seungbae's eyes practically popped out of his skull as he saw your arm. Pretending not to notice, you stand up to go throw your cup away. The officer's hand gently, but firmly, grasped your arm.

"What's this?"

You blush and sit back down. "It's nothing. Things just got a little rough last night. That's all." A weak smile pulled at the corners of your mouth. It was clearly forced, but that was intended.

Seungbae's dark eyes remained fixated on the black and blue marks that dotted your forearm. It was obvious someone had grabbed you very harshly. Last night, Sangwoo hadn't been too happy to find you fucking some guy on his bed and yanked you away a bit more viciously than he should've. But the way he fucked you in the doorway as your victim bled to death from a stab wound in his stomach was more than enough to make up for it. Showing Seungbae the marks was just reassurance: if you ever left Sangwoo and things got nasty, you had an eyewitness to call him psychotic and abusive. The fact Seungbae was a police officer was just icing on the cake.

Your friend let go of your arm reluctantly. "If he ever hurts you again, no matter the time, call me and I'll come pick you up."

Nodding, you smiled. "Thank you. I will." You both knew that was a lie. But he let you leave anyways. What was he going to do? The most he could do was report the incident; however, he probably understood it would get him nowhere. You had implied it was an accident. Reporting it would accomplish nothing but push you away.

No, he wouldn't report anything. He would simply try to be closer to you to protect you. If he wasn't already, he would soon be wrapped around your little finger. It was all a game and you were winning.
