Chapter 34:

"Theo! Please. I'll be good. You don't have to put me to sleep."

"Nori, we talked about this. I'm not going to hurt you. You won't forget anything. I will keep you safe, darling."

"I won't do anything! I'll be good. I promise," She cried. She would be completely helpless if he drugged her and she needed to be alert.

"I'm sorry, love. But I have no other choice."

Nori backed as far away from him as she could, not wanting the needle to touch her.

"Is there any way I can make you trust me?"

Theo closed in on her. He pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. "I do trust you, love. But I don't trust the rest of the world. They're trying to keep us apart and I can't keep you safe unless I do this."

The needle pierced her skin. She took a deep breath and looked up at Theo with pleading eyes as the cool liquid flowed into her and the darkness embraced her once more.

Nori awoke groggily. She couldn't manage to open her eyes but she remembered that Theo was knocking her out for the trip to New York. Was she there already?

She felt like she was scrunched up, uncomfortably. She tried to stretch out but couldn't move. A gag was in her mouth and her hands and legs were tightly bound. She was cramped into a tiny space. What was happening?

Theo lied. Of course. What was he doing to her? She felt claustrophobic. Where was she? She felt walls on all sides. Was she in a suitcase?

Her small enclosure quickly moved. She was suddenly upside-down and she heard Theo's muffled yet panicked voice say, "I've got this bag."

Another voice said, "Are you sure, sir?"

"Yes." The enclosure was flipped up right and something moved on her side. It felt like two snakes slithering. Was that the bag's handle moving? Her body was jostled again as the bag she was trapped in tilted.

She could hear Theo softly say, "I think she's up, Imogen. This sedative's not as strong."

Several more uncomfortable minutes trapped in that bag had Nori in tears. The bag was upright and the slithering feeling happened again. It was just the handle. She knew that but it scared her.

Suddenly, the bag was lifted up. She hated everything that was happening. The bag landed on on the side with the handle. She was crying so heavily and she felt like she was having trouble breathing. She needed to get out of this tiny space. The soft sound of the zipper and a light hitting her eyes told her she would soon be free.

The bag opened and Theo looked down at her. She could feel the tears streaming down her face. Her beautiful captor looked at her with a smirk.

"You weren't supposed to be up yet, darling." He scooped her out of the bag and gently placed her on the bed. He reached out to stroke her face and she shied away, scared he was going to do more to hurt her. In an instant, anger was etched onto his face.

"Why do you keep flinching away from me?" he growled.

She couldn't fight back. Her hands were tied behind her back. Her ankles were tied together. With her mouth gagged and her glasses gone she was exposed. Incapacitated. She was at his mercy.

His hand wrapped around her throat. He yelled, "Would you have preferred if I made you forget? Would you?"

She looked up at him crying, unable to stop. "Answer me!" Nori shook her head no. "Then stop being so scared of me!"

The door swung open. Theo turned, blocking Nori from seeing who was there.

"Theo, why are you yelling at her." It was his friend Imogen.

"She's constantly scared of me."

"Well, how would you feel if you woke up in a suitcase?" asked Imogen.

"Concerned," he murmured.

"Exactly and she woke up to you yelling at her. Blimey, Theo, I told you once, I told you a thousand times, you can't scare a person into loving you. So stop being a right wanker."

"Imogen, it's not your place to judge." Theo turned back to Nori.

"Untie her and get her some food and water."

"Take my credit card, Imm. Order whatever you want and just get a large pepperoni pizza for me and Nori."

"Fine." Imogen grabbed something and left, softly closing the door.

"I'm going to untie you. Promise me you won't scream or I'll rethink it." Nori nodded her head, trying to breath deeply enough to calm herself.

Theo untied her legs first. She stretched them out, realizing how tight her muscles were. He then untied her wrists. She started rubbing them to get the circulation going as he removed the gag.

She took deep breathes to try and calm herself. Theo sat next to her and gently lifted her onto his lap. She felt like a small child in his arms. He pulled her close and she let herself relax in the comfort of his embrace.

"You're okay, love."

"Can I have some water?" She asked softly.

"Of course. Lie down and rest. I don't want you overexerting yourself."

He gently placed her on the bed. Despite having been asleep for the entirety of an international flight she was still tired. Then again the sleep from drugs was not the same as actual rest.

She squinted around at her new surroundings. A plain but large room.  Outside these walls was New York City. Derek was here somewhere. Maybe he was close. And he was looking for her. She could feel it in her bones.

If he was going to find her anywhere it would be here. Not locked away in a mansion in London where she never saw the sun.

Theo came back with a glass of ice water. He helped her up and handed her the glass. She quietly drank.

"What are you going to do with me while you're out?"

"I'm going to leave you here. I've got a lot of TV appearances and press junkets. Then in a week we will go back home."

"How long do you plan to keep this up? Are you going to put me in a suitcase to bring me to your next film set? Or maybe it will be a dog cage next time?" she snarked.

"Some day you will be able to come outside with me. I want us to experience the world together and enjoy all the great things life has to offer. But it will take time, little one."

"Some day? How long is that? A few weeks? A few months? A decade when everyone forgets I'm gone?"

Smack! The sounds of him backhanding her echoed through the empty room.

"Be quiet! I'm sick of you complaining about everything! You are here now and you will enjoy your time with me! Is that understood!"

"Yes," she said. Being slapped didn't hurt that much in the grand scheme of things.

She sat quietly on the bed, existing in her latest prison. Then again, that's all she ever did with Theo. Exist.
