Jacquelyn's POV
August dropped us off and headed to work. He doesn't start school until September. He's going to UofM on a Football scholarship. He's an assistant at WREG News Channel 3.
I grabbed my backpack and purse and walked into the school. Once I walked in, Sofia walked up to us with 4 papers. I'm guessing that those are our schedules. She handed me and Iyana ours first, then she gave Davina hers. Iyana and I have English, Algebra, Gym and U.S. History together.
"¿estás probando para el coro?" Sofia asked.
"Girl you know I don't speak Spanish. Can you just say it in ENGLISH."
"Are you trying out for choir?"
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe."
"Yes she is. Jackie needs to use her voice for something good, instead of talking my ear off." Iyana said, then she playfully hits my arm. Sometimes I hate this girl, but I can't live without my ride-or-die twin.
"Alright, I'll try out, but you gotta try out with me sis. Let's get to home room before the bell goes off." We all left for homeroom, and then straight to first period.
Our first period is English 1 with Mr. Anderson.
Iyana's POV
Once Jackie and I walked into the classroom, the room was halfway empty. I saw an empty table in the middle of the room and pointed it out so Jackie and I could sit. Mr. Anderson walked in after the bell rang and greeted everyone before telling everyone to introduce themselves to the class. Everyone started going around the class introducing themselves.
"Hello, my name is Jason, I'm 14 and I like football and Fortnite." The guy next to us said. Followed by some laughing from the other students.
Jason Campbell
He has dark brown curly hair, and hazel eyes. He has a black shirt on with white jeans and timberlands. It was Jackie and I's turn to introduce ourselves.
"Hi, my name is Jacquelyn and this is my twin sister Iyana. We're 14." Jackie started off.
"And she likes to sing and I like to design." I just thought that I should throw that in there. Just in case she decides to back out.
"Do you mind singing something for us?" Jason said, followed by the rest of the class cheering. When I turned to Jackie, she was blushing. I told her that I would sing with her. She nodded and we started singing the first part of Who You Are by Jessie J.
I stare at my reflection in the mirror
Why am i doing this to myself?
Losing my mind on a tiny error
I nearly left the real me on a shelf
No, no, no, no
Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising
Just be true to who you are
Once we were done, the whole class started clapping. Even Jason.
"Well, looks like we got ourselves some singers at Germantown. That was beautiful ladies, good job." Mr. Anderson said. I'm not into singing that much. I just like to do it because Jackie loves it. After everyone else introduced themselves, Mr. Anderson had put some notes on the overhead projector and told us to copy them down.
Jackie's POV
Once everyone was done with the notes, the bell rang. Iyana and I don't the same 2nd period so I told her that I'll see her 3rd period. As I was about to leave, I dropped my journal. When I turned around to pick it up, Jason was right behind me handing me my journal.
"You dropped this." Jason said smiling.
"Thank you." He handed me my journal and I turned around, going to my locker.
"Hey Jacquelyn, what class are you going to?" Jason said standing next to my locker.
"Spanish with Ms. Delgado. What about you? Oh, and I prefer Jackie."
"Same. Do you mind if I walk with you?"
"No, I don't mind." I closed my locker we walked to class. It was a very awkward silence between us, so I decided to break it.
"So, are you going to try out for the football team?"
"I'm thinking about it. What about you? Are you gonna try out for choir?"
"I'm thinking about it." I chuckled a little before continuing. "But for real, I'm kinda nervous."
"Why? You sounded great in English."
"That's because I was with my sister. If I was to sing alone, I probably wouldn't have done it at all."
"Stagefright?"
"Yeah."
"Well, have you sung in front of anyone else?"
"Only my family and friends, but that's it."
"Okay......... well, when you are about to sing in front of a lot of people, just think of someone who you are comfortable with and pretend that they are in the audience and focus on them as you sing."
"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." He smiled as we walked into the classroom. I looked around the classroom and saw Sofia smirking at me. I walked over to her table and pulled a chair out to sit down.
"Dang girl, it's the first day and you already got a boy walking you to class." Sofia said as I sat down. I looked around and saw Jason on the other side of the room talking to one of his friends.
"He's cute, but I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now."
"Yeah, but he sure is looking at you." I turned around and noticed him looking straight at me. He saw me looking at him and he looked away and smiled.
45 minutes later......
"Okay girl, I'll see you in choir." Sofia said before getting her purse and walking out the door.
I went to my locker to grab my clothes for gym and headed straight towards the gym.
