Chapter 5: jasper hale

I was gathering my things into my bag that I had accidentally let fall out not wanting to have anything seen. I don't need anyone seeing any of my things that I normally carry on me(my knives and other basic things for hunting).
"Hello." A southern voice says behind me.
"Hello." I say quickly shutting my bag and turning around to see one of the Cullen's standing in front of me.
"Can I help you with something? From what I understand you and your family don't talk to anyone." I says slinging my bag over my shoulder with crossed arms.
"You are not wrong. I was just wondering if I could get your name." Jasper says with a small smile.
"Nyx." I say before walking around him as the bell rang.
My classes went by quickly and as I stand in line at lunch my phone starts to ring. I look at the caller ID to see it was Sam checking in on me.
"Sam." I say answering as I get my food.
"Nyx how are you? Is your school treating you well?"he asked like a true father.
"I'm good, and the school is good but I might have a thing just waiting to see if it's good or bad." I say as I texted him this morning saying that the town had a coven of vampires.
"Nothing is showing that it's bad?" He asks knowingly.
"No but I'm keeping an eye on it. It seems like it's good." I say glancing at the cullens to see jasper staring at me with his hands in fists and Edward staring at Bella.
"Good, if that changes you call." He says making me smile.
"Will do ." I say before hanging up and walking outside with my food which unfortunately had me walk past the cullens.
"Nyx!" Alice says with a big smile making me jump slightly and tense as I turned to her well aware she had caught most of the student body's attention.
"Yes?" I ask turning to the table a little curious.
"Come sits with us." She says quickly getting up and dragging me to sit down.
"A-Alice! Please I appreciate it but I don't think I should." I says easily getting out of her hold and walking back towards the door.
"Sorry but I won't take no for an answer." She says forcing me to sit down at the table.
I glare at her and huff before I start eating and my phone rings again.
"Nyx." I say not bothering to see who it was.
"Oh good you answered." Deans voice came from the other end.
"Dean! How are you? Have you heard anything about you know who?" I ask glancing at the cullens who were trying to act like they weren't listening.
"Yeah he's fine now sulking and feeling guilty but fine." He says sounding tired.
"You okay dean?" I ask my eyebrows furrowed.
"Yeah just the things that were in him have been released and we have no clue what they are." He says with a sigh.
"Do you want me to come back? I can help." I say sitting up straight my eyes hardening forgetting that I was at a table with vampires.
"No nyx you stay there. If we need you we will call you. Plus I think it's best you don't come . Cas is in a rough place." He says quickly making me frown.
"You're such an idjit!" I growl out before hanging up.
I decided I wasn't hungry anymore and started to stand.
"Wait, please." Jasper says gently setting a hand on my arm. I hesitated before nodding and sitting down.
