You weren't entirely sure how much time had passed since you four had arrived at the Belmont estate, all you knew was that you were tired. Very tired. You had been fighting against it for a few hours now, but it was getting a lot harder. You shook your head in hopes to wake yourself; it was a failed attempt, however. You stood up from the spot you've been sitting in for a bit. Unknown to you why, you felt nervous sleeping without someone else around. You had never felt that way before, so it was an odd feeling, a foreign feeling. Maybe now you would find Sypha so you could sleep near her?
You walked around for a few minutes before coming across a small beam of light from one of the isle of books. Maybe it was Sypha? You walked up quietly, about to turn the corner, but stopped when you heard, not one, but two voices. Quietly and inconspicuously you peered around, careful to not let them see you. It was Sypha and Trevor huddled under one blanket together, you smiled softly and started to walk away, you would allow them their privacy. Before you could though, you heard something that piqued your interest. You decided to stay and listen for a bit.
"Are Alucard and (F/n) asleep?" You assumed it was Trevor, obviously, due to his deeper voice.
"As of (F/n), I'm not entirely sure, I haven't seen her for a while, I would assume so, since she has been complaining about being tired for a few hours now. And Alucard, he's still poking around your family's things with a look of faint disgust." You smiled softly at that, sounds like him.
"Ah."
"It's lonely even when you're standing next to him. It's strange." You frowned now. You knew exactly what Sypha was talking about now.
"How so?"
"I'm not sure. He's intelligent, sometimes even witty, in his own way. And he's certainly half-human. More than half-human. He's a person in his own right. But it's like he's a cold spot in the room. It's not like your sadness."
"I'm not sad." Trevor said.
"Yes, you are. But I can shout or tease you and get a reaction that lets me know you're still in there. His sadness is like and icy well. It's bottomless. And it swallows up your voice and anything you try to drop into it."
"Am I really sad?" Trevor asked.
"All the time. You don't even notice it now. It's just how you are. (F/n) too, she is like you in that way." You frowned.
Are you?
You let out a quiet breath. It was time to stop snooping. You picked yourself off the shelf and quietly made your way in a direction they couldn't see you leave in, making your way down the stairs to the bottom levels. You were going to find Alucard.
It was easy finding him, he was dead smack in the middle of the entire bottom floor, looking through the directory. "Hey." You spoke, walking up behind him.
"Hello." He replied, without looking up.
"You're not going to sleep?" You asked.
"I've slept enough." He said, giving one last glance at the large book, before turning around to look at you. You rubbed your left arm.
"Oh. Well, I'm tired." You paused for a moment. "I hate to ask this, but would you mind staying beside me while I sleep? I uh, I'm having a hard time falling asleep without someone around right now." His eyes widened slightly. "Sorry, that sounds dumb, forget it." You started to walk away, but was stopped when a hand grabbed your wrist.
"I can't think of anything else I'd rather do. And no, that's not dumb. This place gives me the creeps too." He joked slightly at the end. You smiled.
"Well, okay then. I will find some place at least semi-comfortable. Although, I'm so tired I could sleep on a rock." You stated, walking off to find somewhere, Alucard trailing behind.
It wasn't much time at all before you came across a large corner. "I'm pretty sure this is as good as it gets here." Alucard spoke.
"I think you might be right." You confirmed his statement and took a seat, leaning back on a bookshelf. Alucard followed your actions.
"Goodnight, Alucard." You spoke softly, leaning down and placing your head in Alucard's lap, using his thighs as a pillow. He was surprised by your actions, only to give a soft smile when he realized how fast you fell asleep from the moment you set your head down.
An hour passed and you were still out like a log, Alucard sighed, he should have known what he was in for. His legs were asleep by now as well, but he was too afraid of waking you to readjust them. Alucard reached up and pulled a book out of the shelf behind him, if he was going to be here a while, he might as well find something to do. The book seemed interesting enough, at least he would have something to occupy him. In fact, he almost didn't realize that you had started to shiver in your sleep, due to the book. He quietly shut the book and placed it in the opposite side of which you were laying. Careful not to move his legs, he arched his back and gently pulled off his cloak, one arm then the other, and then placed it on your petite form.
Almost immediately you stopped shivering. Alucard smiled and placed his hand on your head, stroking it for a bit, before taking a small lock of your hair and twirling it. He loves your hair. For once in a very long time, too long, he only felt one thing: peace. Eventually, took his hands away from you and reached to grab the book again, only to stop when he heard you mumble, "..A-Alucard."
He looked down, only to see you were still asleep. It must be a nightmare. Taking one of his hands back he placed it gently over you in order to comfort your dream state. You unknowingly reached up and grabbed his arm and held it. He tilted his head to the side. This new feeling, the one he felt at this very moment, was completely foreign.
"Curious." He whispered to himself.
Sorry this one is dumb and/or super duper short, I just wanted to knock some fluff in.
