Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate. To make your friends and family feel loved. And most importantly, to stuff your face with as much food as possible. With that in mind, Trina scrambled around the kitchen hoping to make everything perfect. Everyone was coming in a little over two hours, and she wanted everything done by then. Luckily the turkey had only two hours or so left. The shakshuka and potato latkes were cooking, and Cordelia is bringing over some rugelach.
Trina felt like she was probably in over her head. Jason had asked her to invite Whizzer and Marvin over, so she begrudgingly complied. There would be seven of them in total, and Trina had to assume the role of happy hostess. Mendel had tried to help, but gave up when Trina snapped at him. It was easier for her if she could have the kitchen all to herself. Trina leaned against the counter and took a deep breath, she just needed a moment to think.
Then a knock sounded at the door. Whoever it is, is early, too early. 'Let's just hope it isn't Marvin,' She thought to herself. She heard the door open, and greetings passed. Trina couldn't tell who it was. She rinsed her hands, and walked out to greet the guests. Unfortunately, the last people she wanted to see right now. Whizzer, cheerful as always, came and gave her a hug. "Trina, how nice of you to invite us, god knows we would have ended up eating take-out if you didn't," He said excitedly.
Trina will never admit that she doesn't hate Whizzer, his happiness is just always so infectious. And it's easier to see him happy, now that she's pretty happy herself. She couldn't stop the grin from spreading across her face. "Well in that case, I'm glad you guys are here, but you're very early."
"Whizzer wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't come help." Marvin said, putting his arm around Whizzer's waist. "He just kept going on about how you probably had too much to do, and he couldn't just let you do it all by yourself." Whizzer nodded along to what Marvin was saying. Trina thought about how she prefers the kitchen to herself, but maybe she could make an exception just once.
Marvin went to go watch football with Mendel, while Whizzer followed Trina into the kitchen. Soon everything was underway, and the two hours passed easily. The house felt very warm and festive, and Trina felt good. She felt the feeling of family, and after another knock on the door, the family was going to get even bigger.
"Charlotte, Cordelia, so glad you guys could make it," Trina chirped happily, extending her arms to the two women. In Cordelia's hand was a plate covered in tinfoil (hopefully they won't have to pretend to like it) and in Charlotte's was a bottle of champagne. Whizzer and Marvin joined the little gathering and greeted the two as well.
Together, everyone set the table and prepared to eat. Everyone took their places, and said their prayers. Then the table was filled with the hustle and bustle of food being served and excited chatter. In passing conversation, there were mutters of "This is amazing Trina," and "I can't believe you cooked all this Trina." Usually when Trina says it worth the time, she's lying, but this actually did feel worth it. To have all of these people here at her table, chatting and happily eating, it was an amazing sight. She turned toward Mendel, and squeezed his hand under the table, letting him know that she is very grateful to have him. He smiled at her and squeezed back.
"Now that Thanksgiving is over, can we start celebrating Hanukkah?" Jason asked excitedly. He really wants presents, and since he has such a huge family now, that means even more presents. All the adults laughed at Jason's question. "We will very soon." Mendel replied.
Soon the little party came to an end. Jokes were told, dinner and dessert was eaten, and everyone was happy. "Thank you for everything Trina, that's probably the best meal I've eaten in a while," Marvin said. Whizzer playfully slapped his arm. "What about my cooking Marv?" he said feigning offense. Marvin laughed and grabbed his hand.
"Yours is good too, but Trina's is better. Anyway, we better get going." And with that, they left. Trina thought it was safe to say that Thanksgiving was a success. After everything that had happened, with the divorce, and Trina marrying Mendel, it was nice to finally get along again.

Just a small Thanksgiving oneshot, somewhat from Trina's perspective. I know it's kind of late, but I wrote it on Thanksgiving, I just didn't post it until now. I'm not really sure how Jewish people celebrate, so if it's inaccurate, let me know. Happy late Thanksgiving guys.
