"Here."

Rosé stuck out the pay her boss wanted me to have.

I stood there in silence before taking it. She watched as I did so, but her expression remained fill of sorrow.

"I don't like this," she tells me.

I looked towards her after counting the money before hiding it in my inner pocket of my coat.

"Which one? Being a maid or handing me money like I'm some beggar." My words were cold but they were fill of truth.

We were standing at the backyard of a glamorous mansion with many maids and butlers managing the place.

There was a large fountain in the middle that was surrounded by human statues and bushes that were trimmed in rectangles.

Around certain areas of the cement path that was connected from the house to the fountain, to the pool, were much taller plants that were being trimmed to look like animals.

Everything here yelled chic and rich.

Especially Rose and the other workers. They all were charming and were dressed in expensive uniforms.

Rose sighed at me. "Jennie. You know I don't mind being a maid for Jisoo's family. We've all been friends for years. You know how ill she is."

I nodded my head. I knew all that.

I know that Jisoo's ill and her family can only entrust Rose to take care of her.

I know that.

What I don't understand is why Jisoo's mother had to be so stuck up. Why did Rose have to become a maid when she could have just visited Jisoo on a daily basis?

How could she think so low of Rose to the point she doesn't consider her Jisoo's friend because of her financial status?

It would make sense for her to think little of me, because of my financial problems, but Rosé?

She's middle class. Higher than me.

Just because she isn't filthy rich doesn't make her poor.

It's ridiculous if you ask me.

"I just wish you didn't have to get paid to take care of Jisoo. It's like you're not even her friend."

Rose didn't say anything but her eyes remained to the ground.

"You know there's no other way. Besides, you get paid too. You always go grocery shopping for the Kims. In their eyes you're their errend girl- always buying whatever they needed with the money they give you."

"Yeah, but just like you. It's all for Jisoo. Her parents wouldn't dare let her get anything, but that never stopped me from getting her a pint of ice cream. They always think she'll get fat off of it, but she never does. I always have to sneak it in and pass it on to you so she can have a little freedom."

"Rose~!" We could hear Jisoo's mom call for the girl in front of me. The voice was light and elegant, but it was also able to kill without hesitation.

I glared at the large wooden door behind her. The demon was hiding in her fortress.

Rose bit her lower lip as she scrunched her face in reluctance. I narrowed my brows in pity for her.

"Yes?" Her voice was kind, but her face spoke disgust.

"Come here!" The woman yelled.

Rose gave me a look and in return I motioned her to just go. She nodded her head, ready to leave, but she looked at me in hesitation.
