"Genji..?"

Angel's voice snapped part of the anger that clouded his eyes.

"Genji... What does it read?"

He looked down at the arrow that now lay in his hand, gripped tightly in a fist. It wasn't something he wanted to tell his princess, he didn't want to worry her. But he knew if he didn't say anything, she'd either get upset or just worry even more. The princess of the Ziegler kingdom was quite the worrier, worrying about everyone and everything. He extended his hand to offer the arrow, the message still attached.
"Milady... It is best if you read it yourself."

She glanced at her knight before hesitantly reaching for the object. Her eyes scanned the marked ribbon, her eyes then widened.
"Death or marriage... Neither are good options. I don't want to marry that beast of of prince, but death means... Everyone in this kingdom would be at his mercy..."

Genji took the arrow back quickly, already doubting his decision. "Angela, please think your decision through."

"I am nearly positive of what I am going to do," she responded, striding over to the doorway. It led to the main staircase, which would eventually lead to her room. "Genji, I will most likely give him my hand in marriage. I cannot afford to lose you- ... Or anyone else in this kingdom. I do hope you understand." With that, she left, leaving the man to stand in the room alone.

The glass was still shattered, and servants slowly filed into the room, one by one, each in their black and white uniform. They quickly began patching up the hole with a temporary fix: some tape and plastic sheets.
Genji normally would have helped, but after about a minute of waiting, he made his way to the grand staircase. The railings were a beautiful dark wood, a lovely finish on top. The wood grain was able to be seen, adding on to it's magnificent look. The stairs themselves were also wooden, but they were covered by golden carpet. He made his ascension on the stairs, following a large hallway to the princess's private chambers. He had already spent the night there once, but it was simply to comfort her.

He took a deep breath in before knocking gently on the door. "Angela... May we please talk?"

His question was met by almost absolute silence. There was a faint noise coming from her room, but it was nearly impossible to ascertain what it was.
"Angela, I'm going to come in, I hope you're alright."
He gently opened the door, feeling slightly bad for the intrusion.
"Angela..."

She sat not on her bed, not at her desk, but instead on the middle of the floor, where moonlight beamed down from a glass skylight above. It glowed on her skin and on her hair, making both much paler than usual. Her blonde hair fell around her face and around her neck.
At the sound of her name being called from the doorway, she tipped her head back slightly as she turned. Crystal tears fell down her cheeks, her eyes watery with tears. They streamed down her face, falling onto the rug.

"Ge-" Angela was cut off from saying his name by the knight's sudden embrace. His arms wrapped around her and his his head went to the side of hers.
"Angela... Please don't cry." He softly said, "everything will be alright, it pains me to see you cry." He held her tighter, his arms attempting to provide comfort.

"I-I'm sorry G-Genji..." The female's voice whispered, "I don't want to leave this life, b-but..."

"Milady... You don't have to. Your knights, soldiers, and generals alike will all fight for you, and I'm sure the townsfolk would too." Genji spoke gently, doing his best for his princess.

She sniffled before pulling slightly away from the hug, just enough to be able to look at his scarred face as he rarely wore his helmet indoors. "Genji. I'm sorry. I'll marry Gabriel... I do not want to anyone else to be further harmed. I- I will write to him and send the letter declaring my decision in the morning. I'm sorry, you'll have to go through one more day of fighting..."

He looked at her, his facial expression completely unreadable. "Angela, I respect your decision. But that does not mean I don't rather you didn't choose that. If it meant that you could stay happy, I would give my life, in or out of battle."

"My dear knight, I wouldn't be happy if you did do that." Her eyes looked up into his, her lips quickly mouthing something, 'I'm only happy with you.'

Genji Shimada understood as he was able to keep up with just about anything. The words floated on his chest before sinking deeply withing his heart. They felt tingly at first but then they turned to comfortably warm sensation. "A-Angela... I- Heh, nevermind that.. Uhm. Are you positive you wish to marry the wretched heir to the Reyes throne?"

There was an audible gulp before a hesitant nod.
"Y-Yes..."

He gave a sigh. "I'll let you do as you wish milady. It is not my place to tell you what to do." His eyes flickered to the window, the moon quite visible. "How about you also write the letter in the morning? It is getting quite late..." There was another pause before he added one more thing, "may I spend the night with you?"

Angela's cheeks became tinted with pink. "A-alright... I'll write the letter later, and y-you may rest with me tonight..."

"Thank you. I won't keep you up."

Angela pulled the covers up, Genji already beside her. She rested a hand on his chest along with her head. Upon doing so, she fell asleep almost immediately.

Genji peered down at the sleeping woman on him and gave a small, sad smile. There was something so interestingly special about her, something that made him realize....

He loved her
