Well, I'm a homebody. I like the occasional out-of-town trips, but I don't actively seek it. Medyo tamad kasi akong mag-empake at magplano ng iteneraries. Ayos na sa akin ang magpahinga sa bahay.

But when I do travel, I prefer travelling in leisure. Ayokong nase-stress kapag nagbibiyahe, 'yung tipong pagdating mo sa destination mo napaka-haggard mo na, 'yung tipong sana pala nag-stay ka na lang sa bahay kasi mas stressful ang magbakasyon sa ibang lugar.

I've had moments like that, but most of the time, maganda naman ang kinalalabasan ng pagta-travel ko sa ibang lugar. I've tried traveling by air and by sea, but traveling by land is my favorite.

Kapag kasi barko, nabo-boringan ako. Puro dagat lang natatanaw ko, e. Riding a plane is better, since the view from the top is breathtaking. Pero ang ayaw ko sa pagsakay ng eroplano ay 'yung pag-navigate sa airport, lalo na sa mga malalaking paliparan, especially when taking international flights. For someone like me who's not a frequent flier or someone who's a solo traveller, nakakanerbiyos talaga at minsan umaandar ang pagkatanga ko sa mga moments na kailangan ko ng common sense.

Anyway, this brought about my interest in transportation, particularly land, air, and sea disasters.

I had an idea to write stories inspired by those unfortunate events.

So far, I came up with three mock headlines:

1. Aviation's greatest mystery: Pacific Skyline Flight NK 769

This is a story about a plane who went missing en route to its destination. Maraming teorya kung ano ang nangyari sa eroplanong bumagsak at hindi pa rin natatagpuan. One theory is that the pilot planned to commit suicide, and along with that brought all the 150 passengers and the other crew members to their deaths as well.

2. Families losing hope of ever finding victims as Queen of the Sea sinking accident marks its fourth year anniversary

One of the worst maritime disasters in the country is the sinking of the cruise ship, Queen of the Sea. Patuloy pa ring hinahanap ang mga katawan ng mga biktima nang paglubog ng barko. Unti-unti nang nawawalan ng pag-asa ang mga pamilya na matatagpuan pa ang mga bangkay ng kanilang mga minamahal. Meanwhile, some of the families are pushing for the closure of the shipping line who owns Queen of the Sea.

3. 13 dead after bus drives off a cliff

This follows the road accident that resulted in the death of thirteen people and the injury of other passengers. A lot of lives have been changed by this incident, whether for good or for bad.

Sa tuwing nakakabasa ako ng mga articles tungkol sa transportation accidents, liban sa mga misteryong bumabalot sa mga ganoong insidente, mas interesado ako sa mga pamilyang naiwan o mga taong nakaligtas. I'm more fascinated at how these families and these individuals move on (or not move on) and the impact of the disaster in their lives.

When typhoons and earthquakes hit our country in the past years, ang kuwento kung paano tayo bumangon bilang isang bansa pagkatapos ng mga iyon ay tunay na nakakamangha. And although not everybody has a success story about it, we can still derive learnings from those people who weren't able to make it out of the unfortunate situation.

And I want to be able to capture that when I finally put these stories in paper. The struggles, the victories, the failures.

I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Hopefully, kapag na-figure out ko na kung paano ko tatapusin ang mga pending ko pa na stories. Hahaha
