I kept moving in my sleep until I finally couldn't sleep any longer. I stood from my bed and stretched my arms out wide to relax. I took a deep breath and walked to the entrance of our tent to catch a glimpse of what time of day it might be. When I looked outside the sky was still dark, but the sun could be seen slowly rising in the distance. I looked out at my camp and a soldier came running towards the tent.
"Miss Washington, you are needed at your father's tent at once."
I nodded my head and he turned on his heel and marched away. As he walked away I went back into the tent and looked through my case to get my soldier uniform out. I threw the few dresses I packed to the side until I found my uniform. I looked over towards the boys and they were still out cold. So I stuffed the dresses back into my bag and prepared to change, but that didn't happen like I had hoped. Lafayette turned around and opened his eyes to see me awake and moving around.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing up this early in ze morning?"
"Sorry Lafayette, I just have to change so that I can go meet up with my dad. Apparently I'm needed at his tent immediately."
Lafayette nodded his head and proceeded to push himself up and away from his bed. He grabbed the blanket from his bed and walked over to me with a smile.
"We both don't know if ze others will wake up while you change. So to keep you safe from their eyes I will hold this up in front of you for modesty."
I giggled as Lafayette held the blanket out in front of me like a shield while I changed.
"Merci Lafayette."
"De rien, it's no problem me amie."
While Laf held the blanket up I quickly changed out of my night clothes and slipped on my soldier pants and shirt. I quickly buttoned up the small buttons in front and straightened out the fabric. Once I told Lafayette that I was dressed he let the blanket fall into his arms. I, on the other hand, made my way back to my bed. I sat down and yawned as I pulled on my socks and knee high boots. When I was finished Laf smiled as he saw me in my uniform.
"It looks good on you (Y/N)."
"Thanks Lafayette, all I need is my coat and my uniform will be complete."
"Where is your coat? We already have ours."
"Well, I'm a female so I'm a lot smaller than you guys. So my father had to get one altered to my size so it would fit me properly."
Lafayette nodded his head, signaling that he understood. We continued to talk and we held a conversation in French for a few minutes while I pulled my hair into a ponytail on top of my head. I made sure to leave the loose sides of my hair that didn't make it into the ponytail hanging by my face. While I finished preparing myself for the day Lafayette and I continued to talk, until the rest of the boys in the tent started to wake up. One by one they woke up and soon everyone laughed as we watched John wake up and fall from his bed.
"Hey it's not funny you guys!"
I walked over towards his bed and helped him up, "Actually it was very funny."
When he was on his feet he looked at me and stopped. He looked me up and down and gently smiled as a blush spread across both of our faces.
"The uniform looks good on you."
I grinned and walked over to my bed to grab my sword and scabbard, "Thanks John. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to alter it to my size."
Herc chuckled, "I can imagine it was a little difficult since you are so tiny. But if you need anything altered here I can help you next time, I'm actually a tailor."
