Bane's POV

I watched as the moon goddess entered the room, her wolves following her. I turned to them and was about to bark at them to come over.

But then I remembered the demigods. I looked at them and turned back to the wall.

I didn't want to get too attached to them...I couldn't loose them, not again.

I had to forget about them for five years. I had changed my name, my attitude, all in search for the moonstone but it apparently wasn't enough.

I saw Thalia stick her tongue out at me. Despite my identity crisis I stuck my tongue out too.

Even if I was a monster, she was still my cousin.

After that I kind of zoned out for a while.

I soon realized the demigods were leaving the room once I came back to reality.

The wolves however stayed behind.

I stood up and scooted closer to the front of the cage. I looked at the two canines.

The first one stood taller, more prouder, than the other. It seemed to be trying to make itself bigger.

It was obviously the Alpha. I better put him in his place later.

I waited for them to make the first move. But no one did.

After a while the cage door rose up to my surprise. I was free? I slowly walked out of it and looked at the alpha and did what any other wolf would do.

I pounced.

I felt the familiar feeling of my claws sinking into flesh. The Alpha tumbled across the room before regaining his balance.

Alpha bared his fangs at me, growling. I returned the action and started circling, an art my ancestor wolves had once practiced.

The smaller wolf backed off, knowing it wasn't his fight.

I waited for Alpha to make a move. Eventually he leaped, hoping to get his teeth around my neck. Anticipating this, I easily dodged him and clawed at his side.

I smelled the familiar scent of blood. Good.

My inner wolf instincts were slowly taking over and I was losing my human qualities. Pity. Mercy. They meant nothing to me.

The only thing on my mind.

Attack.

Conquer.

Kill.

I made my move and dove at his side, knowing he would see it.

He dodged it and I got ready. Once he regained his composure I dove at his injured side once again.

He dodged, looking confident.

Too bad I was merely playing with him. Leading the enemy into false security is my favorite sport.

Why am I doing this again?

I didn't consider the thought though because I charged again but this time faked the injured side and once he dodged, bit his left back leg.

I heard bone crack and tasted the sickly sweet taste of blood.

I backed up and examined him. He tried desperately to stand up even though he knew this battle was done.

I leaned down in his face and clawed his heart. A quick death.

I glanced at the other wolf who had been watching patiently. He trotted over to his old alpha. He sat down and howled for his lost leader.

I too sat down and howled, out of respect. He was a warrior after all.

It was an amazing feeling, when I howled. It felt like with each mournful note everything was leaving me. Stress. Pain. Worry.

Everything except my wolf.

And it was amazing.
