Chapter 8: Gem

Luna's POV

"Gem?" Frank said.

"Well the owl is Annabeth for obvious reasons but who is the hunter and who is the gem?" Piper asked.

Something felt right when I heard gem.

"I think, I am..." I muttered quietly but I knew the others heard me, "I don't know how but I know I'm the gem. Thalia must be the hunter. What are we supposed to do if we can't kill the 'monster's foe?'"

"Capture him," Chiron said, "And then bring him here."

"I could make some tranquilizer darts!" Leo said, "I could start right now!"

He started pulling supplies out of his belt thing.

Tranquilizers for a man that is feared by monsters. I hope that this quest won't be my last.

"It's settled." Chiron announced," Once Leo is done with the darts you can begin your ques-"

"DONE!" Leo yelled, looking quite pleased with himself.

I looked over and saw three small guns and 18 small, empty things that looked like a shot but much more complicated.

"All I need is the serum to put in 'em and it'll be all ready," He said.

"Oh here," said Connor handing Leo a small bottle.

"Do I even want to know why you have sleep serum in your pocket?" I asked.

"No," Connor said.

"Best not to question it," Travis smirked.

I rolled my eyes at them and grabbed a now filled tranquilizer gun. Annabeth and Thalia did the same.

"Well," Thalia said, "I guess we'll be going."

Annabeth's POV

We got our stuff and headed to Thalia's Pine. Chiron told us the demigod was headed west and that we would most likely, because of his pattern, find him in Nevada.

I laughed at Thalia and Luna when they heard this. They were mad because they were just in Nevada and Thalia had to take a plane to get here too.

Anyway this time we were going there in a van that I was driving since I was the only one who looked sixteen.

-----------Time-Lapse---------

We were finally in Nevada and the demigod was believed to be here tomorrow.

"I guess we find a hotel or something?" Luna said.

"Yeah, I guess." I said a little distracted.

What if this is a wild goose chase? I mean, we don't even know if he is going to be here or not. Not to mention we have all of Nevada to search. I know Chiron said to stay by the border line but...what if the demigod doesn't even show up?

"Annabeth? Are you even listening?"

I looked up to see Thalia looking at me and Luna studying a map.

Thalia walked over to me, looking concerned and whispered, "What's the matter?"

I sighed. She always knew when something was wrong with me.

"It's just..." I started, "What if he doesn't even show up?"

"He will," She said, "And when he does we'll bring him back to Camp."

I liked how she didn't say if. When he does we will bring him back to Camp.

I smiled and walked over to Luna to look at the map.

"The best choice would be this hotel because it's in the middle of the border line and not very far from here." Luna said.

"Good idea. In the morning we'll try to find the rouge," I said.

With that we started on our way. After a few minutes I realized something.

"Guys?" I said.

"What?" Luna asked.

"We haven't been attacked by a single monster so far." I said.

"Well the demigod is hunting where we were driving already." Thalia said.

"Yeah," I said, "But now were in Nevada, where the demigod hasn't hunted yet. Two children of the big three should of at least attracted one monster by now."

They paled.

"So that means..." Luna trailed off.

"He's hunted here. He may still be hunting here," I said.

We immediately set off to find him. After hours we found a gorgon. It was running away from...from him.

We ran towards the alley that the gorgon came from, tranquilizers in hand.
