Caroline's POV
I walk out of the grocery store and get back into the truck. I leave and start my way back home when blue and red lights flash in my rearview mirror. I pull over to the side of the road put the truck in park. Gannon walks to the driver's side and looks at me.
"Get out the car, Caroline." I stare at him.
"Why? I haven't done anything." He smirks.
I smile at him. "Get out the car Caroline!"
"Tell me what I did, Gannon." Gannon pulls the door open and grabs me by my hair and drags me out of the truck. A truck starts driving up and Gannon knees me in the stomach and then tases me. I fall to the ground as the electricity flows through my body. Gannon puts me on my stomach and pulls my hands behind my back.
The guy gets out of the truck and runs over to us. "What the hell, Gannon! I'm calling this in!" I look up and see the guy on his phone. "Hello. I would like to report an officer that just pulled a young girl out of her truck and tased her for no reason! It's Joe Gannon."
Gannon grabs me by my hair and pulls me up. He slams me into the side of the truck and gets too close for comfort. He leans into my ear. "Don't you ever lay your hand on my daughter or you will regret it. That's a promise."
He pulls me away from the truck and throws me on the ground. Sirens wail in the background as I try to get up. Gannon looks at me and kicks me in the stomach. I double over and groan. The guy that was on the phone tackles Gannon to the ground and holds him there. I slowly get up and the second police car comes to a stop.
Both of the officers get out and rush over to Gannon. The blonde haired guy makes his way over to me. He has a nice beard and pretty hazel eyes. He's chubby but not overweight. He's tan but not as tan as everyone else in this town.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" I snap out of my daze and look at him.
"I think I am okay." He stares at me like he doesn't believe me.
"Let me take you home. I can get Greer to come pick up the truck." I hesitantly nod as one of the officers walks to me.
"Miss Grant, can I get your statement please?" I nod. "Tell me what happened here in detail."
I go through everything that has happened in the last week that I've been home. He writes it all down and lets us go. "Let's get you back home."
We get into his truck and start our way back to my house. "My names Noah, by the way."
I look over at him. "Oh, you're the one who is building onto the stable." He nods. "Well, I am Caroline but you already know that."
I laugh a little bit. We arrive at my house and I hop out. "Thank you for coming to my rescue."
"No problem pretty lady." I smile and go into the house. I stop in the foyer and look in the mirror. I raise up my shirt and see a big bruise on my stomach.
"OH MY GOD! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!" My mom runs over to me and turns me towards her. My dad walks out of the living room and stands beside my mom. "Who did this to you? That Blanche girl?"
"No, mama, Gannon did this to me but Noah helped me. I went to the grocery store to confront Blanche and I kind of beat her up and somewhat threatened her. I left before I did something worse but on the way home, Gannon stopped me threatened me and tried to make it clear to me not to lay a hand on his daughter." I pull my shirt down. "He pulled me out the truck by my hair and kicked me. He even tased me. Noah came in time and called the cops."
"JULIE!!!" My mother turns around and so does my dad. Julie has been working for this family since before I was born. She's married to Gannon. Julie walks out of the laundry room and up to my mom.
"Yes, Mrs. Grant?" My mom easily towers over her as her anger grows.
"I want you out of my house! YOU ARE FIRE! Keep your whore of a daughter away from mine!" Julie nods and walks out the front door. My mom turns to me. "I want all of the truth and not half of it."
"It has to be just us two, not dad." My dad sighs and goes back into the living room.
My mom and I walk to the back of the house and go out to the back porch. We sit in the rocking chairs and look out at the rows of flowers. "Let it out, Caroline."
"Beau tried to sleep with me because Blanche wanted him to break my heart. We went swimming in the lake and he tried to get me to have sex with after we kissed. I told him no and got out. I picked up his phone and instead of mine and saw the message Blanche sent him. I left and you know came home showered and wnet after Blanche." My mom stays silent. "I've never stooped so low in my life. It's never been this bad. He acted like he cared."
"Men only want one thing and you know that but there are men out there that want more than just your warm holes. Beau obvioulsy has some things he needs to get over and grow up. Don't worry about him. You have responsibilities now. You have a beautiful Plantation to take care of. When it's your time to find the guy for you he will come and show you what you are worth." I nod. "For all you know he could be right underneath your nose."
"I barely know anyone in this town anymore. I have no friends here. Knox is in the Gulf and Greer is always working on something." I look over at my mom.
"You could always try and talk to Dixie." I shake my head.
"I don't want friends that are girls much less guys. I'm just going to stay to myself." My mom nods.
"Good. You have a hard day tomorrow so get some rest. I will tell you when supper is done." I nod. I stand up and hug my mom. I let go of her and make my way inside. I go up to my room and pull my phone out. A text message pops up and I click on it.
FROM UNKNOWN: Hey, it's Noah! I just wanted to make sure you were okay. So are you okay?
TO UNKNOWN: Send a picture so I know it's actually you.
He sends a picture and and I lightly smile to myself. He stands in front of a mirror, a familiar mirror. I set my phone down and leave my room. I walk to the next door over and lightly knock then walk in. I walk over to the bathroom and lightly knock.
The door opens and I smile. "You could've just come to my room and asked if I was okay."
"I don't have the balls to come talk to a pretty girl like you!"
