Where do you go, with your broken heart in tow?

It was a beautiful morning in Seattle, as it hadn't been in a long time. I woke up, put my gameface on and started a new life. Well, at least that's what I was hoping. I drove to the hospital, left the children at daycare and went into the attendings lounge. It had been *wonderful* so far. I drank my coffee and went to the pit. Two gun shots in the abdomen, one in the head, and two more in the leg.

I paged Bailey, Amelia and Ortho. What I didn't know was who was on call for the ortho department, so I just paged. We took the guy to the or, he was bleeding a lot. We opened him up, controlled the bleeding and closed the abdomen. Now it was Amelia's turn, the bullet had gotten into the brain, and we could permanently damage grey matter if we took it out. Who didn't seem to show up was the Ortho guy. Some interns were talking about an ortho god, so he better hurry up, because this leg can't last much longer without being amputated. Pressure went down, pulse was weak and unstable. As Amelia extirpated the bullet off of his head, his pressure went up again, but this time it was too high. Now it was ortho's turn, his part of the show. It was all a great symphony that needed to be followed. Surgery is like music, one step at a time, no time for doubts.
-Where the hell is ortho?!- I yelled
-Paged three times Dr. Grey- a nurse said.
-Here's ortho!- someone shouted as he entered the or. - Am I late to the party?
-Yeah a little bit- I said ironically- now get in here and help!
-What happened to this guy?
-What do you think happened to this guy?- I said pointing at the wounds.
-Okay, I'm gonna have to take the bullets out or else I'll have to amputate.
-Well so then just do it!
-Okay, I'm doing it, calm down. I got it, now onto the other one... done. We have to check for possible infection. But I am done here.
-Thank god- I said madly
-Nice meeting you too, Dr. Grey- he said with a smile.
What the hell? He knew who I was, yet I didn't know who he was. Sure, he was a very handsome ortho guy, but he had seen my name in the or board.
Later at night, my shift had ended, so I went to the parking lot and put my bag in the back seat. Just then, mysterious ortho guy opened his car,  which was one car apart from mine. He said:
-Rough day, right?
-Why do you care?- I asked
-I don't, I'm just trying to make small talk. But you don't seem to be nice
-Maybe you should know me better before you judge- I said
-Well, can I?
-What?
-Know you more. We could go to Joe's, down the street.
-I know where Joe's is, I work here since I was an intern. And I didn't mean it that way. So if you'll excuse me, I- but he interrupted.
-Where do you go?
-You mean where I'm going now? Why do I feel that isn't any of your business?
-No, I meant "where do you go, with your broken heart"
-Okay you are too impolite, I barely know you and now you are making assumptions about my heart or love life?
-Sorry I didn't mean to. But you know, not only you can get your heart broken because of your love life.
-Okay so now you are a shrink?
-No- he said smiling.- anyways, good night Dr Grey
-Good night Dr...
-Lincoln, Atticus Lincoln. But you can call me Link, it's shorter.
I smiled a little bit and left.
