Just a saying

You know the saying that goes: "Life is like a circle... you can always go back to any place that triggers you, your memory"?

Atticus was leaving for the conference in a matter of hours, but everything had sorted itself out, except we did (sort it out) or whatever. You get it. Anyway, I was going to the attendings lounge, where Izzie was.

-Izzie, hi! Haven't seen you in what? Weeks?

-Haha sort of, how have you been? You know, Lincoln and you...

-Well, off and on as always. Right now we are fine, but he is leaving for a conference today.

-Aww and you'll miss him, won't you?

-Don't be stupid... okay maybe a little bit. Fine, I will, tremendously.- I said

-You are in love- she said smiling

-I am. I've gotten to a point where I think I can handle this.

-You always can. You always survive, and that's the greatest thing about you- she said

-Thank you- I said- but there's one thing that has had me worried for a long time now

-What is it?- she asked intrigued

-What it Atticus wants to have a family? I mean, I'm done having kids, at least I think so. I've had two great love stories, but the third one better be with no children at all.

-Well, have you ever asked him?

-I haven't. But what if- but she interrupted me

-Mer, just do it. Ask him. And you'll see. You never know when you'll go back to the most unexpected places ever- she said

I remained silent for a while, partly because I couldn't help but to think all the places I'd been in, and mainly because I was too scared to go back there... then I said:

-It's a saying, right?

-Huh?

-That thing you said... it was just a saying?

-Yeah, why would it mean something else?- she asked me

-Forget it- I said. But deep inside me, and very very deep, the words "Bujiki island" kept echoing in my head. The word "carousel" triggered me in so many levels. Even the word "conference" kept coming up.

Incredible, right? How we were having a conversation and, all of a sudden one single sentence shifted my mind to a completely different conversation...
