-Wh-who is this?- she said
-This is Meredith, a colleague and friend-Link explained
-I didn't know friends kissed- she said bitterly
-Who are you?- I asked
-I'm Coleen Anderson, his wife
Oh no no no no no no no, not again. This was like a major flashback, to when Addison came to Seattle and introduced herself.
-Wife- I repeated
-Meredith, I can explain- he said
-Oh but you don't need to. Just... I hope you are discharged soon.- I said as I left, trying to hide my anger and be politically correct.
After that horrible moment, I almost ran out of the ICU, I walked past Amelia and Maggie, but I didn't reply to them calling my name. I kept on walking, so lighlty as if the floor were clouds. I walked and walked, until I got out of the hospital. I walked to my car, and got the hell out of there...
Already home, I slept in the couch for a couple of hours. What woke me up was Amelia, who had just arrived home.
-Meredith, do you wanna talk?
-Nah, I'm fine.
-Can we talk about me then?
-Of course- I said faking it a little, because I actually didn't want to talk at all.
-Okay so, looks like me and Owen are getting back together
-That's good! Good for you.
-Except I'm scared
-Of what?
-What if it doesn't work?
-Amelia, you can't live like that, thinking whether things will turn out okay or not. Just let it be, and we'll go from there.
-Right. Thanks Meredith. I know you have a lot going on...
-I don't. I am okay, Amelia. Just go sleep, I'll be upstairs any minute.
When she had already went upstairs, the doorbell rang
-Coming!- I shouted
When I opened the door, that living disgrace was there.
-Meredith, I am so sorry. Can we talk?
-See, I don't talk to players. What were you trying to do, Lincoln? Set me up? So that I could be the bad guy?
-No, It's just that, Coleen and me are divorcing. She just wanted to create some drama. But we haven't been a couple for like a year now.
-So then why didn't you just tell me, if you had nothing to hide?
-I was scared, okay?
-Of what?
-Of what you'd think of me if I told you I was married.
-And what would I have thought? Is it wrong to have been married?
-No, but-
-What?
-Meredith, it just had no relevance to me, I didn't even think about Coleen because we are not together. And I started liking you then, so why telling you about my past? Because she is that, she is my past.
-Well, but why does it matter? I was married, twice, and you knew it. So you never even thought about telling me?
-No! Because she doesn't mean anything to me.
-Are you sure she doesn't?
-Yes!
-Well, just leave me alone, Lincoln. I've had a very long day...
-I don't get why you are mad
-Because you lied to me! And I can't build a relationship based on lies
-But I wasn't trying to lie. It just never occured to me that it was important!
-Just leave, please. We can discuss this later.
-I won't leave until we stop fighting- he said
-Well, it is my house and I'm telling you to leave
-Is it really what you want?
-Yes
-Fine, then I'll go. Just... just close the door then I'll leave
-You leave first- I said
-I'll leave if you close the door. So close it.
-Fine, I'll close it.
-So why aren't you closing the door?
-I don't know- I replied as I stood there- whatever happens, doesn't change anything, got it?
He nodded. Then, he kissed me and closed the door behind him.
