"Andromeda. New page, New title -slash- topic, An-drom-e-da." I say to the class, writing and underlining the title on the board.

For a moment all I can hear is the turning of pages, the scratching of pencils, and faint breathing.

There was the occasional whisper and giggle, but that doesn't really matter.

After a moment I let out a breath and start talking again.

"So... Andromeda. Cool name that, Andromeda, Anybody know why it's called the Andromeda Galaxy?" I ask the class.

No hands went up.

I sigh in disappointment.

"Come on! Anybody?"

Nope.
Zip.
Nada.
None.

All I got in response was a whole load of blank or confused faces.

Another sigh.

"It's called the Andromeda Galaxy because it is near the Andromeda constellation." I let out.

"A Greek... I dunno, goddess or something... Don't ask me, I'm your Science teacher not your history or geography teacher. I don't understand subjects these days, where do you learn about culture? Geography or history?" I ramble.

"Uhm... Geography I think, Mr. L/n."
Someone called out.

I looked over at the green haired fifteen year old.

Finlay Williams.
A small, quiet, insecure but amazing and seriously intelligent non-binary student.
I often find myself worrying and looking out for Finlay a lot more than I probably should but I mean, it's a teacher's job to worry.

"Really? Geography? I would have thought that because it's the history of a place that it would be in History.
Anyway! Astrophysics, Astronomy, Amdromeda- A lot of 'A's isn't there..." I change the subject back to our original lesson.

"So, does anybody know anything, anything at all about Andromeda?" I ask.

"That it's hard to say?"
Another voice called, I don't know who it belonged to.

I laughed.

"Yeah, a bit, but really."

I saw Aiden Bell put his hand up.
I catch myself before I can roll my eyes, I know I shouldn't but I really do hate that boy.

He can't help It, But he is always the first to answer everything, laughs at people when they make a stupid mistake and even has the most punchable face ever.

"Anyone?" I ask.

I just catch Finlay's hand go up, unsure, but still up.

"Fin?" I call.

"Is it a spiral Galaxy?-" They say quietly before being cut off by Alden.

"Just like our galaxy. We're a spiral Galaxy." He says, over confidently.

I find myself hoping he stands on a Lego brick.

"Yes! Good Finlay. And.. Aiden." My voice trails off.

My negativity suddenly wears off as I see a smile on Finlay's face.

They got something right, so now that will boost their confidence and they'll answer more questions.

"The Andromeda also has-" I stop talking as Finlay puts their hand up again.

"Yes?"
"Sorry, uh, doesn't it have an estimate of one trillion stars?" They speak a bit louder.

I nod my head.

"And for every star there's a planet to go with it." We state in unison.
I grin.

I made a student happy. That's all I need to make my day great.

Henlo my fabulous trash cans.
