"it's okay, _______. i promise, i won't let go! and i love you!" their skates glided throughout the ice rink perfectly, with mostly the boy guiding the other step by step. the boy leaned in close and pecked her lips, basking in the euphoric moment with her, his other half, the big piece of his heart, his beloved _________—
jaemin realised he had his heart eyes on the girl for so long to the point he lost his focus, resulting in his face colliding against the nearest wall.
the pink-haired youth's eyes snapped open right after he fell off the bed, grunting at the pain. "ah, seriously! a dream again," he mumbled to himself, rubbing his head.
"jae? what are you still doing in bed? you wanna be late for first day of school?" his older brother, jaehyun, peeped in the room with the door slightly ajar.
"i told you, knock before entering! jeez, you people just— what's that word— common sense! i swea- it's almost seven!!" jaemin cursed and scrambled off to the bathroom, fully aware now that he was late for school. on the first day.
the young teen sprinted down the stairs, chugged down a mug of hot chocolate (he'd prefer coffee, but his mom made that so—) grabbed a toast and waved to his family. "bye mom, bye dad, bye hyung! see ya later!"
"well, a good morning to you too, son," his father replied sarcastically, but let the boy be on his way anyways.

"really, first day of the semester? but you're not usually late, mr. na, so i'll let you off this time. next time this happens again and you'll be expecting a detention,"
"sorry, mr. jeon, won't happen again," jaemin flushed in embarrassment, taking his seat. thanks to his dream, he had woken up late.
strangely, it didn't happen only then. the dreams kept on visiting him every night on the eve of summer, and continued throughout the whole season. dreams of a girl who was supposedly his girlfriend, going on dates and spending time with each other and— it was weird, but jaemin had come to fall in love with his dreams, with her. they knew each other so well, but every time the boy wakes up, he would quickly forget her name again, and everything would end up like a blur.
"jaemin.. jaemin-ah!" he snapped out of his trance, and looked to the side to see his friend, jeno.
"whaddup?"
"what's with you? you've been in a daze for a while, your summer flipped on you or something?"
"eh, nothing,.. actually, i don't know, i'll tell you later," he waved the other off. jeno shrugged in response and went back to focusing on mr. jeon.

"lol what?" hyuck snorted.
it was lunch time, and jaemin sat with his group of friends, jeno, donghyuck and renjun. they've been close ever since the start of high school.
renjun put down his sandwich, eyes on jaemin. "you're telling me, you've been having dreams of the same girl throughout the whole summer? and she's your dream girlfriend?"
"you're that desperate for a girlfriend—? ow!" hyuck received a kick on the knee by jaemin underneath the table.
"well jeez, sorry i don't have one like you do!"
"i'm not done asking questions! hey!" renjun interfered, and the trio started having a mini battle at the table, arguing here and there.
"okay, guys, guys, not in front of my salad—" jeno tried calming the others. jaemin was now standing up, aiming a spoonful of his yoghurt towards hyuck's face until the plan backfired, his elbow hitting a girl's tray making the food flipped over and landed on the floor.
the pink-haired blinked and the boys stopped in silence, heads turning to the girl's food. rip.
"o-oh— shoot, i'm sorry— i—"
"yah, thanks a lot!" the girl heaved a loud sigh, her friends offering condolences to her lunch. jaemin's ears perked up at the familiar voice and looked up at her, eyes widening. she looked exactly like the girl in his dreams.
"well, look at the bright side!" hyuck voiced out. "the food didn't spill over your uniform! girls would hate that and i can relate—"
the girl huffed in disbelief and walked away, "whatever. great, i'm gonna starved to death," her friends followed her suit, leaving the boys.
jaemin spun around, facing his friends. "crap,"
"what?"
"it's her,"

the girl stared at the boy in front of him in disbelief. "aren't you.."
"the guy who dropped your food by accident the other day, yeah, sorry about that," jaemin laughed nervously, a tray of food in his hands. "i used up my friday expenses so i bought uh.. chicken sandwich, two sets, sausages and strawberry-flavoured milk. and, i'm still sorry, i wasn't aware of my surroundings,"
she blinked, almost feeling guilty for getting at mad him. he looked adorable with that sad pouty look on his face and he seemed really sincere with his apology.
"________-ah, poor guy, just accept his apology," her friend, heejin, nudged her shoulder.
"yeah— thanks, sorry for getting mad at you too, uh.. na jaemin right?"
the pink-haired nodded and smiled brightly, showing his teeth. "and.. well, since tomorrow's a weekend, if you don't mind.. wanna hang out together somewhere?"
__________'s cheeks were painted a light shade of pink, taking a while to think but nodded anyways. "i don't mind at all," she shuffled around in her pocket and fished out a pen, holding jaemin's hand and writing down her number. "text me where and when," she smiled. her smile was beautiful, just like in his dreams, but this was real so jaemin was awestruck at the sight.
"okay, see ya later, _________," he walked away, then skipping off joyfully with a small victory dance when she's out of sight. his dreams really came true this time.
