"Look how smiley you are. I hope this lives up to your expectations, we're only baking cookies."

"I know, it's just... I haven't baked like this since I was a little girl, and Tina and I would bake with my gram...." Queenie was practically glowing. It made you happy seeing her so happy. You place a delicate kiss on her lips, as soft as you can.

"Let's get started, shall we?"

All of the times Queenie has cooked, it had been by magic. You being a Muggle, knew what wizards saw as turmoil; doing just about anything without a wand. But it fascinated her, the same way Magic fascinated you. You loved teaching her things that felt so ordinary to you. It really puts everything in a new perspective.

Queenie unloaded her icebox with the milk, butter, and eggs, and placed flour on the table. She had loads of other ingredients in her cupboards.

"Hm...," she furrowed her brows in concentration while looking over the weathered recipient book you brought from home. "It says to mix the dry ingredients first." You helped her measure the flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg and pour it all into a mixing bowl. She seemed hesitant to stir the mixture, you know, with her hands. You stood behind her and showed her the motion in which to do it, and she gleamed at you.

"Perfect," you complimented. She flushed, and you read out the rest of the ingredients. Once you were done mixing up those, you sprinkled a bit of flour onto the countertop.

"What's that for?," she asked.

"To keep it from sticking to the counter." She nodded in understanding.

"That's brilliant! Usually when I cook, it would be floating, and then it doesn't stick to anything."

"Unfortunately, there ain't no technology like that for No-Majs," you put simply. She got out a rolling pin and watched as you pressed it into the dough, spreading it thin.

"I don't got no cookie cutters..." She paused. "But you do!"

"How'd you- Queenie," you said the last part in a reprimanding tone." She blushed.

"It was right there, come on it was impossible to ignore." You shook you head.

"It's alright," you sigh. Her talent amazed and scared you at the same time, not like you had anything to hide from her. Nothing since she found out you were checking her out one day on the street.

"I'll go get them." She scurried off to retrieve a handful of cookie cutters from your bag in the other room. There were only three; a Christmas tree, a snowman, and the classic gingerbread man shape. You showed her how to press the metal bits into the dough, then transfer them to the tray. Even you would end up breaking a few of the shapes during the process. Some of them you both gave up, and turned them into ordinary balls.

Queenie offered to prepare hot chocolate while you waited for the cookies to bake. That took less than a minute, and you didn't take your eyes off the whole thing while she mixed the warm milk with chocolate right in thin air. You and her curled up with a cup on the sofa, and the smell of cookies filled the house. The alarm you set went off minutes later, and you and her put down your cups before running back into the kitchen. Hot steam hit your entire body as you lifted the pan out of the oven with your mit. You settled it on the stove top to cool, even though Queenie insisted she cooled them with magic.

"If you wanna do it the No-Maj way, you gotta do the whole thing, including the part where you wait."

"Ugh, like I haven't waited long enough. You're very patient." She hugged your waist while you played with her hair. You lost track of time simply standing there, you in each other's arms. It was bliss. And then she released you to check the cookies again. Queenie pulled one right off the sheet and took a bite of the gingerbread man's head. Steam was still rising off its body.

"So?"

"Tasty," she said through a mouthful of food. Your smile came effortlessly. She was just so pure in every way. She was sweeter than anything you could make with flour and sugar.

Done and done. Hopefully not too corny...?

I love my Goldstein gals, and trying to expand the options for fanfic on this site. Especially ones that are for female characters, by female readers, or male characters for male readers. Vote if you agree.
