It felt almost like bad luck that only a week into dating Ron that he'd end up drugged, poisoned and end up in the hospital unconscious. Just a day later, a bludger knocked you out during your Quidditch game against Ravenclaw. You woke up in the hospital ward, cards and boxes of sweets on your bedside table, and Ron in the bed beside you. He was starring up at the ceiling, looking dazed.

"Ron," you said groggily. The spot on your head where you got hit ached. He turned his head to see you better.

"Hey, (y/n)," he said. "You just couldn't stay away from me, could you?"

"Right. That's why I got hit by a bloody bludger. Just couldn't stay away," you laughed.

"Stinks, don't it?"

"Yeah," you sighed. It had occurred to you that second that you had no idea how long you'd been out for. "What day is it?" You sat up in a panic.

"It's only been three days."

"Three days?! Wait that means it's..."

"You were out all day Friday, but then again so was I. And then I woke up Saturday, and you were still out. And then it was Sunday, so..."

"Today's Monday."

"Yeah, that sounds about right."

You lowered yourself back down onto the pillow again.

"Merlin, that might be the worst injury I've had all season. No, scratch that, since I started playing."

"I heard it was bad. Your friends Justin and Susan told me all about it yesterday."

"That must've been humiliating. Yikes."
He chuckled. "When do you get out of here."

"Should be good to go by tomorrow. Madame Pomphrey said for you it might be another day or so."

"Fortunate for you. You'll be able to catch up on your schoolwork sooner."

"Yeah, not exactly a priority for me as much as it is for you."

"Probably right." You huffed. "You'll come visit me, right?" There was a hopeful innocence in your voice.

"Of course... yeah, no doubt." He squirmed in his bed, fidgeting and avoiding your gaze.

"I visited you,"you prodded, enjoying the power you held over him. For once, you made him act discomposed.

"Th-thank you, for that."

Gosh, he's cute.

Madam Pomphrey entered the ward, fussing over you and the bandage that covered your head. She made you realize  the reason you had to stay longer was because the fall from your broom dislocated your shoulder, which you didn't notice until she adjusted its position on your pillow. You tried not to cuss in front of her, and bit your lip until you smelled your own blood.

Once she gave you pain killers and both of you lunch, you and Ron pushed your cots closer together and slid a table in between them. You played Wizard's Chess until Harry and Hermione arrived, still with their schoolbooks. Hermione was helpful in filling you in on Advanced Potions homework and an Ancient Runes' essay. Ron only pretended to listen as she caught him up on his work. He kept looking at you and making faces while you muffled your giggles. Eventually she noticed how he wasn't paying attention, and scolded him on how recovering was no excuse to slack off his schooling.

She and Harry were fun company, and didn't seem to mind you joining into their conversation. Susan tried to come in and see you, but Madam Pomphrey was already kicking out your first two visitors.

"We'll come back tomorrow," Hermione promised. The Healer checked Ron one more time, and told him how he's in good enough shape to leave that night.

"Thank you," he said, and she turned to leave. "Sorry to leave you here." You began to shrug, then winced in pain and were immediately reminded of your current injury.

"No, I'm happy for you," you said, still gritting your teeth. He came to a stand, wobbling a bit when he did.

"Goodbye, (y/n)," he said, clutching your good arm for support. He leaned down, and gave you a kiss on the cheek. That was the closest he's ever been to you. Your heart pounds so hard you wonder how it's even able to stay in your chest.

"Bye, Ronald." Your arm felt cold when he let go and stumbled out of the ward.

He'll be back tomorrow.

That thought played with you as you ate dinner, as you got changed into your nightclothes, and as you tried to lull yourself to sleep.

I'll get to see him again.
