Year: Sixth
House: Gryffindor
Gender: F
Love Interest: GinnyIt was a magical thing; meeting someone who can make you question a part of your identity. And her name was Ginny Weasley.
She was a grade younger than you; strong, confident, funny, smart, and talented. When you thought of her, this things would come to mind, though you feel there's no need for justifying your crush on her. Nearly anyone with a beating heart has at some point swooned over the red-haired girl. Although, your chances to ask her out have become slim to none.
You currently sat with the Patil sisters, Lavender Brown, and Susan Bones from Hufflepuff. Typically, Lavender Brown was out of the equation, but decided to invite herself since she had come to spy on Ron, sitting a few tables down. Even the Parvati had been avoiding Lavender since she became obsessed with the Weasley boy, and you remember how close they were, especially in Divination classes. You and Padma sipped on salted caramel hot chocolates, while Parvati, Lavender, and Susan had butter beers. The steaming hot drink spilled a bit onto your lap when you looked at the booth in front of you. There she was, snogging Dean Thomas.
"Would you look at that. Don't look now, Lav. Dean and Ginny are hand in hand," Padma whispered excitedly.
"More like tongue in tongue," Susan teased. The whole table chuckled, minus you and Lavender, who was just too busy checking out Ron to care. You frown to yourself, trying to still keep your composure. You felt stupid thinking for even a second that Ginny was going to start dating again. You try distracting yourself with drying the chocolate beverage on your good pair of jeans.
You spend another half an hour or so hanging around Hogsmeades before deciding to call it a day and head back to school.
You, Parvati, Lavender, and Fay Dunbar spend the night in your dormitory. You see a bed empty, and assume Hermione Granger is downstairs hanging out with Harry and Ron. You four hung out in your pajamas, telling stories and jokes and gossip. You mostly just listen to the gossip.
A knock came at the door. Parvati yells "No boys allowed!," and throws a pillow at the door. You all fall into a pit of laughter, when you hear a sweet voice from behind it.
"It's me, you guys." Recognizing who it is, you walk over and open it for her. Ginny gave you a warm smile before entering the room. Your heart nearly skips a beat.
"Ooh, Ginny!," Lavender yells, enthusiastically. "Please, come sit!" Probably just sucking up to Ron's sister, you think to yourself. Ginny sits on Hermione's vacant bed, the one right next to yours.
"What's brought you here?," asks Fay.
"My entire dormitory has been hounding me with questions about Dean and I," she rolled her eyes. "Honestly, I just needed some space. The common room is packed, and I find no better place to get some peace."
"Well, you're welcome to stay with us," Parvati says. You catch Ginny looking in your direction, and you nod vigorously in agreement.
"Thank you," she sighs, relieved. The girls continue their conversation about other random matters. Occasionally, someone would try to casually ask about Ginny's love life, which she would answer very nonchalant. When Lavender asked her about any Gryffindor boys she was interested in, she quickly replied, "Not nearly as infatuated with as you are with my brother." This made everyone laugh, which Lavender joined in awkwardly trying to seem unhinged by her words. While the other girls were preoccupied with gossip, you decided to take your chance to talk one on one with the red-head.
"Hey Gin, can I braid your hair?" Totally casual, you think to yourself. Just a straight girl braiding another straight girl's hair. Nothing suspicious about that.
"Sure, (y/n)!," she smiles, bouncing from Hermione's bed to yours. You take a comb from your bedside drawer, and start running it through her long, beautifully smelling hair. It's silky to the touch; you can see yourself doing this for hours if she'd let you.
"Ah, that feels so nice," she said with an airy, delicate tone. You're suddenly glad none of the girls can see your face go red.
"Do you have a hair tie?," you ask. She pulls one from around her wrist and passes it back to you. "Thanks." You put it around your wrist before separating her hair into three parts, overlapping one onto the other. You move slow, not only so she's impressed with how it looks, but so you have an excuse to be this close to her.
"I understand if you don't want to talk about it," you began. "But, how'd you and Dean get together?"
"Oh it's no bother, I hate answering questions from gossip-crazed girls who hardly ever talk to you any other day," she remarked. "Dean and I had been seeing each other since last school year, but we'd only been dating, really." You were shocked by this bit, they must have hidden it really well for not a lot of people noticed. Well, maybe not you. When it came to who's seeing who, you felt embarrassingly oblivious.
"But it was only recently it's gotten any serious," she continued. "We're sort of official now. It drives Ron mad, which is the most satisfying part." At this, you had finished the braid, and was now tying it with Ginny's hair tie.
"All done," you say. Ginny reaches behind her, running her fingers lightly along her hair.
"Thanks, (y/n)," she turns around and smiles at you.
"You're quite welcome," you say, returning the smile. Her eyes widen, as if realizing she'd forgotten something.
"Oh, wait! I should have asked you this sooner, but oh well."
"What is it?"
"My mum asked me last week if I wanted to invite anyone to Christmas dinner! You probably already have plans," she said the last part with great disappointment.
"I don't, actually," you reply, happily. "My dad's stuck doing a night-shift at St. Mungo until Christmas morning. He told me it's better I spend the holiday here."
"That's perfect! You can spend the holiday with us!," she exclaimed. You can't think of any other time you were more excited for the holiday season.
"Really? You're family won't mind?"
"Course not!," her hand grazed your arm. "My parents would love you." You imagine her saying the same thing, if she were your girlfriend asking you to meet her parents.
Whoop whoop! So update is gonna be normal. I know the ending seems abrupt, but this one has a part two. So we know what (y/n) gets Ginny for Christmas, and what her time at the Burrow is like (ooooh).
Also shoutout to dixngelo for actually reading these. You're the coolest. :)
