The Things He'd Never Say

Hey! It's been a while! Here's a short from another writing prompt, compliments of Pinterest!!! Write about the three things he could never tell her:

1. He'd been in love with you for much longer than you'd ever know.

Jungkook had first seen you from across the hall at school, on the fifth day of sophomore year. The smile playing at the corners of your mouth and the way you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear made his stomach flutter. You were at your locker, listening to a couple flirt playfully. Jungkook couldn't tell who they were or what their conversation was about, simply because he was so captivated by your smile. That was when Jungkook fell in love with you.

2. He could never believe you fell for him.

The day you met was nearing the end of sophomore year. By this time, Jungkook was well aware of who you were: your name, your group, your classes. Not that he was creepy, he was simply curious. You were in the gym, helping your friends set up for the spring formal. (Never had one of these) Jungkook had been commissioned by his homeroom teacher to carry crates of decorations to the students. At the sight of you, tip-toeing unsteadily on a ladder in an attempt to hang a string of paper flowers, he dropped his crate unceremoniously on the floor. He sprinted to your side and steadied the ladder.

"I can get that for you." He offered.

You looked down at him, your face registering surprise as well as happiness. You start down the steps, "Thank you, that would be awesome!"

He put a tentative, steadying hand on your back. You hopped off the last step gleefully handing him the garland of pink blossoms. His breath caught in his throat at the way your hair swished around your cheeks and he covered it quickly by clearing his throat. He stepped up the ladder that you now held steady and easily strung up the garland.

"Thank you so much, Jungkook, right?" You questioned him innocently. "I'm Y/N."

He cleared his throat once more, "Yeah. Um, Y/N, so you want some help with the rest of the garlands?"

Nodding like it was a great idea, you scooped a pile into your arms. "That would be fantastic! Thank you!"

The two of you spent the next two hours decorating the gym to look like a park in the middle of summer: twinkling lights twined with garlands, pastel colored balloons floated around in bunches, wooden tables with white cloth napkins skirted the dance floor.

He'd walked you home that evening, still shocked at the way you were. The way you seemed so serious but so happy and carefree. You managed to be silly and sarcastic. You were more than he'd ever dreamed. And, when you shyly wondered aloud whether or not he was going to the dance with anyone, his heart moved to a dangerously rapid beat.

"I haven't thought about it yet." He lied, of course he'd thought about it. He'd thought about asking you since the dance was announced.

Bashfully, you raised your head to look him in the eyes. "Would you think about going with me?"

3. He couldn't believe that the evening of your first date was real.

The night of the formal, he picked you up at 7, his eyes widened at the sight of you and his breath caught in his throat.

I kid you not, I spent forty five minutes looking these up I prefer the white one but it wouldn't look good on me and I have an unhealthy addiction to gowns and dresses I love them so much. I just chose two so there were options and so I could look at dresses for longer lol, pick ur fave, that's what ur wearing. :3

You were breathtaking in your gown. He could barely believe you were real--and really going with him. He tugged at the fringe of hair that curtained his hair, suddenly feeling very shy and nervous.

At the dance, you greeted your friends and introduced them to him. He bashfully trailed behind, at some point finding the courage to interlock your fingers in his. His heart's erratic fluttering miraculously calmed at the contact, rather than bursting out of his chest--as he'd originally expected the outcome to be. He waited until the two of you were leaning quietly against the snack table to ask you what he'd been thinking of all night and for several days before.

"Y/N would you like to dance?" He murmured.

"Um, well, I would, but..." You trailed off as he pulled you gently onto the dance floor.

"I'm not very good." You completed your warning.

Jungkook just smiled, never doubting that you were amazing and that you could do it. He put his hands lightly on your waist and and you put your hands on his shoulders. You swayed back and forth as he guided and he led you in a circular pattern across the glowing floorboards.

"See, your a natural Y/N." He reassured you.

You blushed at the compliment and rested your forehead on his chest. His heart pounded at your closeness, but he continued to guide you around in circles. Finally, you looked up at him, a pink blush dusting your cheekbones.

"You're very sweet Jeon Jungkook. I like you."

He could have died a happy man right then and there, but--seeing as it would be awkward for you to dance with a corpse--he collected himself.

"I really like you too Y/N. I think you are wonderful." He answered.

He could feel the heat in his own face and prayed that he wouldn't say anything stupid to ruin the moment. Instead, he found himself leaning towards you, catching your eyes and looking into their depths. You leaned up, staring right back. Finally, after an interminable amount of time, your lips met his in a butterfly kiss of unequivocated sweetness. You sighed against his lips and he smiled, you were so wonderful.

This is pretty cringy and lame sry, but I'm terrible at thinking up things that he could never tell her, plus I've never been in a relationship so I don't rly know what boyfriends tell their girlfriends... (at least in this situation it's bf/gf) ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love you guys/gals/nonbinary (and anyone else I missed in my infinite stupidity) beings!!!!!!!!!!! Also becuz it's so late it's barely edited sry.
