Megaman X: Modern Hunters

Ready!

"And that's what's been going on." X says as he finishes explaining to Christine and Gabriella's parents. "Our commander trusts your daughters, you should as well." And without another work the two nod and give Christine and Gabriella the green light to become the heroes of their era.

"Gabby, you go first." Christine replies and Gabriella enters the blue capsule. Suddenly Gabriella is encased in a blue light as the armor forms on her and when the light finally dissipates, Christine and their parents can see her again. Gabriella is completely decked out in X's armor and the helmet has materialized in her hands. She then closes her eyes and dons the helmet of the legendary maverick hunter and when she opens her eyes, she sees an amazed Christine and her equally wowed parents.

"Do I look good?" Gabriella asks, and her parents wheel out a large mirror. Gabriella is floored by her new appearance and slowly turns to the maverick hunters. "This looks absolutely AWESOME! I love it!"

"Glad you like it. Have you tried your X-buster yet?" X asks and Gabriella forms it on her left hand. Her right hand, her dominant hand, is free to grab onto things as necessary. Christine finds an old cardboard box and sets it there for Gabriella to shoot at. Gabriella then takes aim and fires three shots. The aftermath leaves the box riddled with three giant holes the size of tennis balls. "You can charge the shot as well but be careful where you aim that, especially here in your house- a fully charged shot would blow a hole right through the wall."

"I'll be careful." Gabriella replies. "It's your turn Christine."

"Alright." Christine replies, and she enters the red capsule. Christine is engulfed in a red light comparable to the one that Gabriella was showered with, and when that light dissipates, Christine is adorned in Zero's armor, with her hair sticking out of the helmet in a ponytail fashion like Zero's. Gabriella is awestruck by her older sister's appearance, and one look in the mirror confirms it all. She turns towards the maverick hunters and gives a thumbs up, and then looks at Zero. Noting where his saber is sheathed she grabs there and slowly pulls it out to reveal only a handle with a button. "Stand back, I'm going to activate the saber." Christine warns and Gabriella and her parents back up a few steps. One push of the button and a green sword length plasma blade ignites.

"That is the Z-saber." Zero explains. "Try it on that box your little sister was shooting." And Gabriella picks up the box.

"Ready Christine?" Gabriella asks. Christine nods and Gabriella chucks the box at her big sister, who proceeds to slice it clean in half with one stroke. Zero and X applaud Christine and she deactivates the saber for now, putting it back in it's little sheath.

"Alright, now that you two have the basic run down of your weapons, why not test them out on the mavericks that happen to be out in your neighborhood?" X says. "Perhaps you'll even be able to find a navigator."

"If you do happen to find someone who can help you out, bring them to me and I'll give them the rundown." Iris adds as Christine and Gabriella rush out. Almost instantaneously the reploids and mechaniloids roaming the neighborhood turn to see Christine and Gabriella and they look legitimately frightened.

"Maverick hunters?! Here?!" One reploid asks, completely shocked.

"Let's get them!" Gabriella shouts as she fires a fully charged shot. It decimates the reploid that first acknowledged Christine and Gabriella's presence as Christine ignites her Z-saber and dices a large mechaniloid into pieces and dashes towards another reploid to do the same. Gabriella stands from afar, blasting any mavericks that dare get near her. It's not long before the mavericks that once terrorized Christine and Gabriella's neighborhood are swiftly cut down, and the two high five to celebrate. That's when a girl falls to their feet.

"Sara?" Christine asks, surprised at the girl's presence.

"There's a giant... THING out there! You have to destroy it!" Sara replies as Gabriella helps her up.

"Get Sara back to our house, I got this hunk of junk." Christine orders as Gabriella escorts Sara back to their house. Suddenly, a gigantic mechaniloid, the one Sara must have been referring to, makes it's presence: It looks like an amalgamation of all the cars that could be found in the neighborhood with the taillights of various cars acting as the eyes. It stood upon two legs, also made up of various cars, and located in the head was a core brain of some sorts. "If I'm even going to damage this thing, I gotta make my way to the top!" Christine says to herself as the beast lets out a deafening roar!

The mechaniloid proceeds to slam a hand into the ground, mere inches from Christine as she dodges out of the way. Using this to her advantage, Christine scales the arm and manages to reach the head. "I dare you to hit me bolt brain!" Christine taunts, and the mechaniloid falls for Christine's taunt! The rookie hunter quickly dives for the ground as the mechaniloid slaps itself, loosening the core a little bit.

"Just a little more and the whole thing should fall apart!" Christine says as the core begins firing off shots. Christine dashes towards the mechaniloid and then dashes out of harm's way as the beast then attempts to stomp on Christine and squash her, with little to no success. What it has done is allow Christine to scale the mechaniloid once more but this time it puts up a fight, doing a crude hokey-pokey to try and shake her off. Christine activates her Z-saber and drives it into the mechaniloid as she makes her way up to the head, successfully avoiding being thrown off and ready to finish off the beast once and for all. "Time to end you!" And with one swift strike, Christine slices the core in two and dives for the ground once more. Suddenly, a series of explosions occur around the mechaniloid, getting bigger and bigger until a blinding flash forces Christine to cover her eyes. When Christine can see again, the mechaniloid has been utterly and completely destroyed. Bits and pieces of cars litter the streets and Christine simply heads back to her house where Gabriella and company applaud Christine for her actions.

"Excellent work!" Zero says.

"Iris told me everything." Sara replies. She's been given an earpiece by the aforementioned navigator and there is a large table-like structure that must have been phased into the room by X and Zero. "She's helped me locate places where there are huge signs of maverick activity." And as she says that she taps the structure, turning on a screen that shows where maverick activity has been sighted. "They're almost all over the world. Be lucky that you guys can be teleported on to the scene."

"Alright, Christine, Gabriella, Sara, we leave this era in your hands. Make us proud." X, Zero and Iris say as they wave goodbye.

"We won't fail you." Christine, Gabriella and Sara reply as the monitor switches off.

"Alright, where do you want to go first? We've got eight locations but I can only send one of you there. You can switch out if necessary but I can't send the both of you there."

"Sounds fair." Gabriella replies as she looks at the screen.
