~Chapter 23: Monster in me~

"You look so beautiful!" I grinned as I caught my mother's gaze in the mirror "the poor boy is going to faint" Aunt Alice giggled as she flitted around me in circles, fixing the long white wedding dress I was wearing "the mutt is a lucky bastard" Aunt Rosalie smiled, fanning my hair away from my shoulders gently and I blushed slightly.

I can't believe that today is the day I'm going to marry the love of my life.

"Let's get you down the aisle" Renesmee giggled as Maya clapped her hands on my shoulders.

I became perplexed as the scenery changed to the meadow I had seen in my last dream

"Should we say our 'I Do's' now?" I looked up into Paul's captivating orbs and I felt my smile grow into a full-fledged grin as I nodded, placing my hands on his chest and feeling his heart beating faster with every passing second.

"I, Paul Lahote, take you, Addison Isabella Cullen as my wife, my other half, my love, my soulmate and the person I shall cherish for the rest of our lives" Paul whispered, his thumb caressing my jaw and he pressed his forehead against mine "do you take me as your lawfully wedded husband?" he grinned mischievously, his warm breath fanning my lips making a shiver run down my spine as the urge to kiss him grew "I do"

With those two words, Paul had captured my lips with his in a loving kiss, slow and gentle until Paul gasped and staggered back, his eyes darting down to his chest where there was a dagger lodged straight where his heart is. I watched wide-eyed as my hand gripped the handle and twisted it further until he collapsed, crying out in pain and I pulled my hand back as if burnt.

A scream left my lips as I scrambled down to get closer to him "I'm s-s-sorry, I didn't do this! It wasn't me!" I cried desperately as I grasped his face, my hands covered in blood "you killed me" Paul's voice sounded betrayed and I sobbed, shaking my head as his lifeless eyes stared at me and his body became limp.

"NO!" I cried out and bolted upright in my bed, my chest heaving as I gasped for air and started sobbing with my knees to my chest.

"Addie! Mom!" Renesmee burst into my room within seconds and she flew across to my bed as she gently stroked my hair, pulling my head onto her shoulder. I threw my arms around her neck as I cried, not being able to get the nightmare out of my head.

I killed him...I killed Paul.

"Shh, it was only a dream. Nothing happened" Renesmee's voice cracked as she hugged me tighter and I flinched as I heard the front door slam open and mom was standing inside my room in no time, her eyes wide as she scanned the room but frowned when she didn't smell anything weird.

"Addie, baby, what happened? I'm here now, stop crying" mom comforted taking me from Renesmee, kissing my forehead as she patted Renesmee's cheek with a thankful smile "I-I-I killed him" I gasped through sobs, curling my mom's shirt in my hand "you didn't kill anyone baby, it was just a nightmare" mom soothed, wiping my tears and sweat that had formed on my forehead away.

A nightmare...how could something that started in such a beautiful way have such a horrific ending?

BELLA

"Is she asleep?" Renesmee asked softly as she rested her shoulder on the doorframe, the way she had been for about an hour now as she refused to budge until she was completely sure that her sister was fine and Addison was in and out of sleep after crying her heart.

Who was she talking about? Who did she kill?

"It was Paul" Renesmee sighed, as if reading my thoughts and I looked at her cautiously "can you read minds?" I questioned tentatively because these children were hybrids, the first twin hybrids, so nobody knew for sure what their lifespan and powers could extend to "no mom, it's written all over your face" Renesmee chuckled slightly and then tilted her head to gesture for me to come out. I nodded and gently placed Addison's head on her pillow, pulling the blanket over her and kissed her forehead before walking out to meet Renesmee.
