Life is a rather peculiar thing, isn't it?

People have many ways of describing life; some say it's a rollercoaster of emotions and events whilst some say it's an opportunity to do everything we could ever want since we only have one life, and some people also say that life is an experiment in which the more experiments you conduct, the better your life becomes. Some people may even believe that life is like a song or the keys on a piano, full of high and low notes but the fact of the matter is that, unlike a song, we can't rewind or fast-forward life.

Though sometimes, I wish there was a pause button so that I could just stop a moment which I would want to cherish forever. Be it moments from my childhood when Nessie and I would play around or when dad would put me up on his shoulders whenever I wanted, or my adolescent moments like tricking Jake and smearing cake all over his face but most importantly, the short yet breathtaking moments I experience with Paul.

For me, however, life is a book.

A book with numerous chapters, seemingly never-ending, and every day is a new page which becomes adorned with words as every second passes.

Life is a book because our past is written in the pages as history which we can visit on any given day. Life feels like the writing of a magnificent book which has aspects which can make us laugh or cry, it can make us happy or angry and it can leave us on the edge of our seats waiting for the next chapter- our future.

Although, as intriguing as the future is, sometimes just waiting for the present to be printed onto a page has a unique fun of its own.

Which is probably why I can't seem to keep the grin off my lips long enough to ease my aching jaw as I stand in front of my locker, shuffling my books around to kill time as I wait for Pa- I mean, my friends to show up.

Ah, who am I trying to fool? Myself?

I've been waiting for Paul, maybe that's why I landed up at school earlier than most of the students.

"Look at you, so happy to see me?" My smile faltered at the voice I wish I could burn from my memory and the character I desperately wanted to omit from the story of my life.

Then again, which book would be complete without a villain?

"I was happy until you came" I muttered and rolled my eyes, not even sparing Matt a glance but some people just don't know how to take a damn hint which is why he continued blatantly ignoring the fact that I want nothing to do with him "I couldn't help but notice that your dog seems to have abandoned you" the sneer was rather evident in his voice and my blood boiled at his statement.

Paul isn't my dog, he's my wolf.

Well, he's not my wolf...urgh, I'll argue with myself later because I, first and foremost, have to handle this ignorant moron.

"I'd watch the way I talk about Paul if I were you" I turned to face Matt, closing my locker door before folding my arms across my chest as I glared at him venomously and in return, he smirked tauntingly "yeah? you going to run and tell him that I called him what he actually is?" Matt challenged and the side of my lips tilted upwards into a smirk like he had adorned which caused his smirk to falter slightly.

I stepped closer to him and gently placed my hand on his chest, making his smirk return to it's former infamous glory and I wanted to laugh at his delusional thought process "I wouldn't need to-" I started and shoved him effortlessly, feeling satisfied at the echoing bang which sounded as his back collided with the metal lockers "I'm more than enough to handle an ass like you"
